Here's the excerpt from the Book Parcells: A Football Life

Unbelievable.

Why should anybody care about this? Because somebody wrote it down? People have known for years that Jerry craves recognition and credit whether he deserves it or not. Does me writing down that water is wet make it more so?

It just never ceases to amaze me. He even made Parcells read that part of the contract aloud before he would sign it. Just unreal that he would care so damn much about his ego that he would write this into a contract.

Get mad though man. I mean if we can't bitch about something, then what is the point?

Umm...I was being sarcastic about the OP. You are not perceptive at all.

We totally need a sarcasm smiley for non perceptive people such as myself.

Jerry has always denied it before, as far as I know.

I do not recall, however, seeing any meaningful denials that water is wet.

So yeah, I mean, just because it's "from" Parcells and written down doesn't mean it's true. (I put from in quotes because unfortunately sometimes the truth in these things is dubious, considering it's unlikely Parcells actually wrote this.)

Anyway, the issue here is that if Jerry is obsessed with credit to this extent, it is probable that he is hiring lesser coaches because he believes he will get more credit. Look at the coaches outside of Parcells and Jimmy that he's hired. There is a pattern there.

And this should bother Cowboys fans, if true. It has hurt the franchise over the years.

Yea, there is a reason that Jerry continues to go after guys with a specific side of the ball in mind, Garret/Gailey on offense, Phillips on defense, and not the proven, CEO types who demand sway in the front office.

oh, we all knew he was an egomaniac and gloryhog, but no one could have imagined that he would codify it in some way. that's sheer nuttiness.

Does this surprise anyone?

Winning the Superbowl is unimportant if Jones can't bask in the glory.

Codify...ratify. Good stuff.
