Gerald Sensabaugh has decided to retire. He has signed with Cowboys and will be moved to retired list on Friday.

This is kind of out of the blue. Did he have some injury we didn't know about?

I'm guessing that is the case or some suspension pending since his getting cut was also a little surprising.

I thought signing players to let them retire was meant for special players.

Gerald is a close name proximity Jerry. Now you know.

Every vet player released causes Schmitty to either say vet minimum or that he'd take a look.

I wouldn't have thought sensabaugh was so bad that no one would want him and he'd have to retire.

Why? No one ever wanted him but Dallas. That contract extension still boggles my mind. No real need for it, no one was interested then.

Not in Cowboy land.

You can be Colombo and Sensabaugh and get that "honor".

Jason Garrett: Gerald Sensabaugh has a lot of football left in him

Jason Garrett was surprised when he heard Gerald Sensabaugh was retiring. The 29-year-old safety got calls from a couple of teams after he was released by the Cowboys in March, but he announced his retirement Thursday by signing a one-day contract with the Cowboys.

Sensabaugh played eight seasons, the final four with the Cowboys.

"I think he has football left in him," Garrett said Friday.

Garrett said he hasn't talked to Sensabaugh, but the next time they speak, Garrett said he will tell Sensabaugh just that.

"He's a young football player, with a lot of football left in him," Garrett said. "One of things is line one in football is the desire to do it. It's a hard, physical game, and if you don't really want to do it, you're in the wrong profession. He's had a very good career, and I wish him certainly the best. He's been a good player for us the last few years."
