As I'm sure most of you have noticed we now have a donation button up. Money and donations can be a touchy subject for some, so I thought I'd say a few words about this rather than just have a button up with no explanation.
The DCC runs purely with volunteers and money given by appreciative users. Honestly, it doesn't take much to run this place, so paying for it out of our pockets is not going to kill us. This is not a begging thread. Paying for hosting will never cause Unc and I to lose our homes. Putting a donation button up has more to do with giving you guys an opportunity to pay for what you use. Principally speaking, nothing is free in life. Somebody has to pay for it. So, if the DCC is somewhere that you spend time and you have the means a few bucks would be appreciated.
It would be cool if we could have this thread up once per year and then forget about it for the rest of the time. Really, if most of our regs would chip in $20 per year we could run this place without any further donations.
My plan is to leave this thread up for a while, so we can knock this thing out quickly. Of course the button will be up and anyone can donate at any time after that.
In the future we'd like to have some contests and give-aways to keep things fun around here.
This has been mentioned before but I'd like to mention again that our books are open to all of the mods and admins here. Full financial disclosure so nobody feels like we are getting screwed. All of the money goes towards the DCC and nothing else.
