This is such a boring, played out answer. If that's the case, why not trade our picks for known commodities? Or, how did we get guys like D. Bryant, T. Smith, since our front office won't do anything with the picks we have. Being a 'realist' is one thing. Being completely retarded is another.

Well, yeah, no one is gonna give up a top 5 pick and another premium pick for Dez, most likely.

But if they did, I would do it even without Romo being shuffled off. Dez is a great, great player, but if you acknowledge that this team isn't compete-ready, then Dez is really of minimal importance. We don't need game-breaking to put us over the top, we need a team that is built properly from the foundations.

Dez is icing. I would trade him in for an equivalent piece of cake in Robinson, Matthews, or Clowney, especially if we are getting sweetner in the form of a 2nd round pick too.

With the right Qb you can literally rebuild in one offseason. Look at Luck with the Colts or Brees with the Saints. This idea that it takes 2 to 3 years to rebuild is an arcane concept from people that don't realize it is no longer 1990.

This is some of the gayest shit I think I have ever seen you write. Also I disagree. The only way I'm moving Dez is for a shot at a QB in the draft I view as a franchise player. Otherwise you are spinning your wheels creating one whole to fill another with a less known commodity.

This concept that a LT or DE is more valuable then a franchise WR is madness.

Exactly. It took a short run of modest draft success (2003-2005) to build the core of a team that went 13-3 in 2007.

Besides QB, having great lines is the best thing you can have.

Dez isn't Jerry Rice. I'll take another Tyron Smith over Dez, if I had to choose.

I'd definitely take Tyron Smith and a second.

You're a DB whore, though, so.... I wouldn't expect you to understand the logic of building the lines being the most important thing you can do.

One WR can change the entire complexion of a WR corp. One OT will never do that for an O-line. Not sure where anyone mentioned a DB's in this entire discussion.

You can literally get by with one great WR. You can't get by with just one great O-lineman. That's why a WR is more important than an O-lineman.

That's true, but having a dominant OL is more important than having that great WR change the complexion of your WR corps.

I think having another Tyron Smith plus a second is more valuable. Plus, there are character questions about Dez to an extent.
 
I would rather have the dominant line myself. With that being said I still don't see Dez leaving at all. Jerry already had to get rid of his bell cow. He is going to hang onto Dez no matter the cost.
