Not sure we can beat this BYU team.

Not sure we can beat this BYU team.
I'm not so sure either. On top of them being a better team than last year, if we beat them, it would be the third time in a row we do so. It's really hard to beat a top 10 team 3 times in a row.

It’s time to bench Mateer. Defense only gives up 226 yards but he throws 3 ints, one of them a pick six.

This is accurate and pretty much how I feel.

Arch isn't an elite QB and never will be, but he's certainly good enough to win with at the collegiate level.

But Sark is awful as both an offensive coach and as a QB developer, and those are severely hampering Arch from playing his best.

And the O line sucks.

Sark is going to waste another great opportunity for the second time in three seasons.

Of course Michigan decides to replace $10M bust Underwood during the Penn State game. Sigh.
At least that fucking empty experiment appears to be over. Underwood clearly can’t play. It should be Carr’s team from here on out.

Sark is going to waste another grass opportunity for the second time in three seasons.
Devil's advocate here... but you know, Texas is perennially the supposed superpower who is always "back", but for most of my life has been a middling team. And Sark does have you guys back as a contending team pretty much every year. Other than a few select years with Mack, that hasn't been the case in decades.

Or is it that NIL is what has made you better and any coach could thrive with all the money you're paying out? I don't know because I don't keep up with that stuff.

If I were a team that had a normal amount of draft resources, I would take a flyer on this kid in the 4th. He has speed, but is a bruiser, as well.

The latter -- I think NIL is allowing all the money that Texas has always had to be used legally and we're bringing in the best talent with it.

Back when it truly required pure recruiting skills, Mack Brown in his prime was a fantastic recruiter and that's why those teams were so full of talent themselves.

But now? Sark hasn't done anything special to me -- he's just using all the money at his disposal and underachieving with it all.

When this season is over I would back up the Brink's truck and try to get Cignetti or Kirby Smart to jump ship.

Now. Now. We dont need to get hasty. He just needs more time because he is still getting used to the SEC play.

That's the pattern right there.

Again, if they bench Arch this week I would totally get it and even agree that it's warranted.

But two things can be true -- Arch isn't playing well and Sark isn't doing him any favors with his QB coaching and certainly with his awful managing of the offense.

The fact that two highly touted QB prospects both got worse over time under his tutelage is as pretty damning evidence of how poor his coaching has been.
