Like when he followed Norm on KLIF?

That's an interesting dynamic.

I think Schotty is trying to assert himself here, and I'm kinda impressed by it.

However, I'd enjoy this more if I thought he was a good coach. Unfortunately I think Schotty is Schitty and whether he asserts himself or not won't really affect his ability to succeed because he just doesn't have it.

I think it has the potential to be a pretty bad dynamic. Pettine probably should be reporting directly to Parker.

I agree, but this is how we do things in Dallas -- ass backwards.

And if he's reporting to Schotty as opposed to Parker, then that tells me he's playing a much bigger role than the team has tried to lead everyone to believe this past week.

I knew it was BS but still, this pretty much confirms the guy has much more say in what is going on on defense than they tried to make everyone believe, otherwise he'd be reporting to Parker.

I was watching a mike fisher report on you tube last night, and he claims that at practice yesterday the defense was doing walkthroughs of different alignments, and then after doing the play, they would walk over to a giant tv on the field and all the players and coaches were watching it and pointing out things. Then they would go back and walk through another play.

Fish said it was something he's never seen them do ever. Now I used to listen to him a million years ago, and he might be insane and a click farmer now, but I thought it was interesting. I'm curious if they were watching live vid of themselves lining up like in real time, or film of the Packers etc.

Exactly right. They're trying to downplay this but their actions say differently.

These anonymous quotes from coaches about Pettine all sound like Rex Ryan.

I'd bring in Rex in a heartbeat.

He campaigned for the job last year too.

If we limp to 9 wins and win the division and are ousted in the WC round with the defense not showing much improvement throughout the season, I would totally make that call and bring him in.

Yup.

Why would he need to report to the HC and basically go around the DC, unless the HC doesn't trust the DC?

Sounds to me like Schotty is basically letting Parker stay in charge in name only, but then asking Pettine in private what his observations are....like a higher-up in the corporate world asking his newly appointed manager what he sees and likes/dislikes about the department he just joined.

Especially the one about, "They finally hired a real coach, now they'll walk away with the division."

Saw some little clip of him talking about this move and you could really see him saying exactly that.

Yeah, the 105.3 turds were acting like this was a big negative, like oh no, what if Parker has to wonder about what Pettine is reporting back to Schotty?

Um, no. Parker's career is five games of an underachieving leaguewide joke of a defense. He doesn't like it, tough shit. He hasn't earned the right to have any objections to anything about this.

I would hope he's worried.... As he should be!

Your defense is terrible and even the proven guys aren't playing to their potential, which strongly suggests that nothing that you're doing is working.

You don't like it? Then figure out how to fix it or get out of the way.

So he’s playing good? Who is the problem then?
The bullshit "pressure" stat rears it's ugly head yet again.

Ineffective arm brushing on a QB that resulted in a passer breaking pocket contain and finding an open guy anyway.

That useless arm contact happens all the time with Gary and Ez gets to within three feet about every other pass.

Neither regularly affect the play negatively, they are just "there"
