2026 Season | Week 4 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Cowboys @ Texans | 10/04/2026

I don't think it is. It feels at least like they are getting some stops this year. The difference in my opinion is that our run game hasn't been right. So our scores feel quicker and it feels like other teams are getting way more opportunities with the ball than they should.

Again, I could be wrong. But it feels like the run defense is better and we are sometimes actually forcing stops. But I don't know if the stats back that up. From top to bottom the defense just feels more talented.
I think people have forgotten how bad last year really was. It's at least a little better this year... though we do need to start better.

I don’t understand how this defense is just so terrible.
Good enough to win, and that's really all we could have realistically hoped for with the 5th youngest starting defense in the league coming off the worst defensive year in NFL history.

Yes, they have forgotten, apparently, and compared to last year, we are light years better considering we are only to week 4 and should improve even more the further along in the year we get.

Also it's pretty obvious even though it was a limited sample size, Porter is going to be a big piece to this defense.

He was really damn good, especially when you consider that he hasn't gotten live action in quite some time.

Our biggest problem right now is just that we have a couple massive liabilities. Steward/Bell and Winters. We need to figure those two spots out. But at least we have a LBer this year.
I buy the DBs.

Winters wasn’t terrible last year. That doesn’t make any sense.

Watching the end of the game again. Lassiter is a hard hitting MF-er. Hit Lamb in the head, and it's lucky Cee Dee didn't have to come out of the game.

We have a hard time with first and goal from inside the 5, mainly because Dak can't throw a fade and there are too many bodies to just power run the ball.
I don’t understand when they are crowding the line how Pickens and Lamb aren’t feasting.

I think it was realistic to hope for better than this.
