He was the coach for several years at that point, he had something to do with it.

But again, my point is not to argue over these minute details, it's that we again have a completely incompetent HC who would have no hope of being a HC anywhere except Dallas.

I don't think we should've kept McCarthy at all, although if the alternative was Schottenheimer, sure.

But the real issue is that Jerry doesn't take the HC position seriously, that's why you see them making these strange decisions no other team would make.

Stafford's lucky to have held onto that ball after that blindisde hit. Not sure how he held onto that. As blindside as you can get.
 
Telling Aubrey to kick the ball through the back of the end zone has to be the most braindead decision I've seen in my entire life.

What are you worried about? Them running it back to the 50 and attempting a hail mary?

I'm fairly certain 7 seconds would've ran off the clock by the time they made it that far anyway.

That Aubrey would kick it so badly that they'd start at the 40?

So kicking it through the end zone avoids what? The possibility of running it back for a TD?

That sort of decision, even ignoring all of the other braindead shit he did today with the offense, tells me his brain isn't suited for being an NFL HC and it never will be.

IIRC, Jerruh and Stephen languished in their negotiations with McCarthy. By the time McCarthy said 'take your minimum wage and shove it up your ass. I'll take the year off', I believe the only candidate left was Kellen Moore because he was still coaching the Super Bowl.

We don't fire coaches - Garrett and McCarthy, we let their contracts expire.
 
If you want another example of just how bad today's coaching was, think about this....

The Cowboys defense held Derrick Henry to under 100 yards and 4 YPC and held Lamar Jackson to less than 200 yards passing.

If they would have told us all that that would be the case before the game, every single one of us would have signed that deal.

Insane how many points the offense left out on the field due to poor coaching today and the good field position we kept giving them due to same poor coaching.
 
It doesnt matter. We all know Jerry wont fire a HC. He will let his contract expire so we have 2 more seasons after this one with Shott.

It's even dumber when you consider the fact that all day long they had him doing those stupid knuckleball kicks when those were the times they should have been asking him to kick the ball out of the back of the end zone.

The ONE time they ask him to kick it as far as he could was the ONE time they shouldn't have.

Again, what we witnessed today was just horrendous coaching across the board.

This was a classic Garrett era coaching performance, particularly the 2011-13 years, that's why I keep evoking his name.

We had plenty of duds under McCarthy but it was never this sort of perplexing shit that completely defies any sort of football logic, that you would only get from a HC that is severely over their head.
