There is also a different feel when they are running at half speed and no hitting. Jim Harbaugh already admitted making a mistake by resting the Chargers in preseason. It was pretty arrogant and short signed to believe we could too since we had an offensive talking about being the greatest running plays they have seen a million times and a brand new DC. Bad thing is there is no luxury of time fixing things.
 
They're going to look like some real fucking morons if the defense isn't at least mildly respectable this week with how hard they're pushing communication as the issue.

Guess who's job it is to make sure the players can communicate and understand the play calls?

And who was raving about the communication being great during camp? The same ones who are now claiming surprise.

Exactly.

Even if it is just preseason ball, the tackling, the hitting, the blocking, etc. are real.

You're not subconsciously running at 75% speed because you know you can't drive your own teammates into the ground. Even if a guy is hustling in practice, he's still only hustling at the speed he needs to in order to keep the coaches off of his ass.

That's not the same as playing in a real game where the bullets that are flying around you are real and you have to respond accordingly.

I really hope these morons learned something from this and play the starters even if just for 2 or 3 total series' next year.
