They are both fiscally conservative and anti-war. That's the only thing conservative about them. They both oppose Trump on pretty much everything. It's almost like they go out of their way to do so.
Paul opposes Trump from a position that is much further to the right. What isn't he conservative on, exactly? He doesn't align with the Democrats.

It's like the Democrats want us to spend a billion dollars. Trump wants us to spend half a billion dollars. Paul wants us to spend only a hundred million.

Of the realistic options Trump is a net positive. Paul is still better. He obstructs out of principle.

It's the same thing with his positions on war, tariffs, etc. I get Paul's perspective. Most of the things he disagrees with Trump on I disagree as well.

Yeah, Rand is annoying in the sense that he doesn't go along with party lines. But the reason he doesn't go with Party lines isn't just to "oppose Trump" it's because he sticks to his principals. Principals that I frankly agree with. But it doesn't really fit in with the games of politics where you can't be a lone wolf and accomplish anything. If you oppose every bill with an ounce of waste in it, you just end up opposing every bill. But I agree with opposing even the smallest amount of waste.

His father was known as "Dr. No."

You need some people like that, though.

I understand what Smitty is saying, of course. But you can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. If you prevent good things from happening, in this case good laws from being passed, you aren't helping. Especially when the other side always comes together and passes whatever they want when they're in power.

Exactly, so in the end all your principles do is make things much worse because when the Republicans are in power things have trouble getting done because of guys like this, but the the Democrats get in power and just hammer everything through.

Yep. And having principles is good and all, but as a Republican US Senator you should be following the America First philosophy that Trump has instilled and I want. That means you may have to bend on some of your principles for the good of the country. Because like it or not, America comes before even your precious principles.

Yeah it's the person who votes third party because they hate both candidates. I get it, makes sense to vote for the person you believe is best for the country. But in the end you're kind of throwing your vote away. Because ultimately you know it's going to be one of 2 parties that win. So most people pick the lesser of two evils.

It's really a problem with the system but you're not changing the system. I'm sure Democrats feel the same way about John Fetterman.

You have got to be fucking kidding me. This is exactly why the Republicans keep losing. They had the Democrats in a corner. Hell, they even had the MSM calling out the Dems, and they still fucking caved. I really thought Trump would be able to bring the party back to at least decent, but nope, this country is headed for the shitter, and there is no opposition to stop it.
