Exactly. You used to hear that a scout would just show up at the guy's school and time him. Didn't need to be some massive event, just show us what you can do. A decent scout isn't going to ding you for two or three thousandths of a second. Hand timing isn't that accurate anyway.Thats kind of my thing, I want to see how much of an athlete a guy is. Great athletes can roll out of bed and rock it. So when you tell me you're waiting for your proday, to me it says you need the super specialized training and aren't just a naturally gifted athlete. But I'm sure a lot of it is just advice being given to these guys.
I also don't trust proday numbers nearly as much. Mykel Williams last year at the Georgia proday ran anywhere from a 4.8 something to a high 4.6 something depending on who you talked to.
And yeah, the whole idea of the combine is that everyone is testing in the exact same conditions. No 39.5 yard or slight downhill tracks. If so many guys aren't going to run, just call it the Indy Mass Interview and Medical Exam.
