Been watching Keldric Faulk lately to try to get a sense of what he is, and it really is like watching Mykel Williams last year. Not so much in terms of who they are as prospects, although they definitely have similarities, but more so in that the way their teams use them is very frustrating and not conducive to evaluating them as edge rushers.
Like with Williams, Auburn basically uses Faulk as a 3-4 DE in tight alignments that don't let him fly off the edge and get upfield. In clear passing situations he's often inside or used as a bit of a decoy on stunts/loops. He's great against the run as you'd expect but as a pass rusher I see more agility and bend than I did out of Williams, who was really just a power rusher. There are flashes of Faulk's potential off the edge but they just never really used him like that too often because of their personnel.
I don't buy the draft media types who tout him as a potential top 5ish pick, but I do think he's viable where I expect us to be in the 15ish range. I'm still trying to place him with guys like Bain, Styles and Love, but given that I think he's a better prospect than Williams I bet he won't even be there when we pick in that 15ish range.
