Wyatt is pretty meh against the run so that might've been part of the issue, he is much younger though.

If they wanted a run stopper they should've seen what they could do to get Travis Jones or even Jeffrey Simmons (although Micah may not have signed an extension in Tennessee).

He had the best season of his career in 2023 and is only 30, I think we could easily see him get back to being a borderline Pro Bowler for 2-3 years.

He could also just be done, who knows?
 
Ironic thing that now since the Packers traded Clark, their starting NT is former Cowboys great Karl Brooks.

Compare with 2020 when we were 28th in the league. We had no talent there at all until Micah and Quinn arrived the next year. Then we systematically added guys and I think we go 5 deep on the edge with above average talent.

Today we are in a lot better shape than that 2020 team. I’m in no way saying Parsons for Clark is a fair trade :lol, but I will say Parsons was the best of an already deep group and Clark is by far the best of what had been one of the league’s weakest groups.

We might not come out that far behind, and if we can actually stop the run we would be better than last years’ team overall.

They took a bit of a risk since they downgraded the interior of their own defense by trading Clark.

Unfortunately, all of this means Ezeiruaku has to be at least half a Parsons. I like him but that is unfair.

Dickhead or not, Parsons is tremendous. Legitimately maybe the best defensive player in football, certainly top 5.

This defense will be significantly, significantly worse without him.

Not only that but last year we were historically bad. This team wont win 7 games because we wont be able to stop anyone.

Hardest to find commodity after QB and WR, tied with LT, IMO.

But it is one position, unlike those others, you can do by committee. You don’t have to be the very best at it to win games. Dallas was top five at it last year, for example, and they couldn’t stop anybody or beat anybody real. Same with the Raiders and Cincy
