If we had a 4th I'd love him in that range.

3rd seems a little rich but I wouldn't hate it.

Yeah, honestly we need to move around in this draft. Unless you have a shot at McMillan or Jeanty at 12, I think trade down is the way to go. And I get it, someone has to want to come up for you to be able to trade down. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Someone else may really love an OT or corner or Warren to make it worth moving up.

And let's not forget you can move back in the second too or third. You can move up with your mass amount of fifths. Whatever it may be, I'm looking to move around. Hell you want to talk "what made the Eagles a Superbowl winner" and it was draft pick trades that allowed them extra ammunition and top picks they wouldn't have otherwise had.

Need to see a Travon Walker-esque Combine performance out of him to feel decent about him as an option at 12.

I mean I think he will have a great combine performance. Hell that's what all his hype is about. It's not because he was ultra productive. It's because he is supposed to be an insane athlete for his size.

Sort of like the Texas AM kid. Shemar Stewart isn't getting hype because he was a dominant force in college. He gets hype because he is supposed to be an insane athlete for 290 pounds.

These two guys are going to live and die by their combine performances. If they under perform they don't have the tape to fall back on as "great football players." So I am interested to see how both guys perform. But I won't probably get overly excited about any of it. Because with that high of a level of athletic trait it just makes me wonder how in the hell neither dude could manage to produce.

What do you guys think about Schwesinger? Haven't seen him play. Is he the Zach Thomas, Sean Lee type they describe him as?

I don't know but gosh he is small. 225 pounds sounds more like a safety than a LBer. It's a really bad year for LBers. Give me Jay Higgins on day 3 though.

Williams was decently productive given that he played at Georgia. As a true freshman he had the same number of TFL as Carter and more sacks, as a DE vs. DT of course but still.

He was near the team lead in TFL and sacks every year despite whatever injury situation he had this year.

Jalon Walker over the last two years put up 17 TFL and 11.5 sacks, Williams put up 16 and 9.5, while of course being elite against the run. Travon Walker only put up 9 TFL and 7 sacks his last two years.

He's not a top choice for me by any means but I wouldn't hate it as long as he puts up a ridiculous Combine performance. I'd certainly rather go elsewhere, and would definitely rather trade down, but if Jeanty is gone I think the board could be wide open.

Fun fact about Mykel Williams. It's true he tallied 5 sacks this past season. 4 or those 5 total sacks all came against Texas. 2 of which wouldn't have even happened if they weren't in the college playoffs.

Funny how a guy can be non existent as a pass rusher but he would turn it on against Texas.

My point is simply he is projected as a first round pick because he is a freaky athlete. Not because he was a dominant college player. If his combine isn't freaky dude doesn't belong anywhere close to the first round. I assume someone can take that freaky athletic ability and make him a better pass rusher. But that's why the combine is so important for a guy like that. Without the freaky athleticism he is a middle round talent.

But that freaky athleticism is worth a lot. Like Parcells and other coaches have said, that's what the league is made of. As long as the player isn't a total Mamula or won't work hard, they can usually develop that into production.

Side note, I've mentioned Jimmy's buddy the old Oklahoma State coach (also with the Dolphins with Jimmy and later Raiders) who until recently used to be on OKC radio. One thing that always struck me about hearing him talk players was, like Parcells, how important the eye test and traits were to him. I'd have thought they would be more ruthlessly focused on production, but it seems every coach wants a team that looks good coming off the bus.

I knew that, just like I knew it was more or less the same situation for Jalon Walker who had 4 of his 6.5 sacks in the two Texas games.

Some college teams have defensive schemes that are just kind of weird as far as putting guys in good positions to pass rush, and Georgia's is probably the best example.

Yeah it's my weakness is judging DEs. Plenty of ultra productive dudes I liked that were trash in the NFL because of average athletic traits. And some of these guys who are freak athletes but not productive in college become way more productive in the NFL.
