But how can you be so fucking lazy to not even do a complete coaching search? It's just such a handicap when other teams have hungry GMs doing everything they can do to keep their jobs. We have Jerry who is old, rich and has lots of leisure activities to do.

I'd guess that he doesn't do much of anything and is just briefed and generally supplemented by guys like McClay, Stephen, so on and so forth. Then I'd imagine he just interjects himself randomly whenever he feels like it, like a bad boss who is usually disengaged but then starts throwing around orders at random on a whim.

Yeah, but neither of them were our HC.

McCarthy was not a puppet but he didn't have the Jimmy Johnson/Bill Parcells level of control either so he was a bit of a unique case.

But everyone else was a puppet HC who never got that opportunity again and for good reason.

So my point stands -- if you think being the HC of the Dallas Cowboys under these conditions is going to help you, then you're dead wrong.

But being fire as head coach or let go rarely leads to a new head coaching opportunity.

Anyway, I do think the Cowboys job gets overrated but it does have it's positives. Fairly talented roster, spot light and prestige, and frankly you know you'll get plenty of chances to prove yourself. Dallas doesn't shuffle head coaches every one to two years like a lot of franchises. So you kind of have job security here.

I don't think our roster is particularly talented.

The QB is a complete anchor. It's the worst possible situation. He's not anywhere near good enough to win a Super Bowl or even multiple playoff games, but somehow the administration hitched their trailer to him for forever because he's not one of the bottom 10 QBs in the league either so you have no hope of getting away from him either.

It's the worst position to be in. Can't win with him, can't move on from him.

There is zero talent at RB or WR except for Lamb. Even with him it's probably one of the worst sets of skill talent in the league.

The OL is in transition. Martin may be gone any day. They have a good LG, the center has some potential. They drafted a LT and annointed him before he was ready but he may be a better RT if he's any good at all. They have some decent depth OL pieces. It's a work in progress.

The DL has one pass rusher it can count on. That's basically it on defense. Anything else on that side of the ball could be traded in or out and you wouldn't notice much difference, including the CB that I correctly told everyone we should trade instead of giving him a massive contract.

Get this, was listening to the Fan segments from this morning and Shariff and Belt say:

-- Shan was told Cheap Son wanted to fire Mike after the Green Bay loss last year but Jerry wasn't paying a guy to sit on the beach.

-- Schottenheimer is Stephen's guy and could be the driving force behind this. But the players including Dak and CeeDee really like BS also.

-- Players have asked the last couple of years why we don't do more Shanahan type offensive stuff and BS wanted to do that, but met resistance.

-- Belt says we're not interested in Eberflus.

Unfortunately, we're about to relive the Dave Campo era with just better talent. But at least if that era relives itself, we're a terrible team with dwindling attendance and dwindling national attention -- and this at a time where the fanbase has never been more disgruntled than it is right now.
