I don't count gimmicky jet sweeps as effective parts of my running game.

In a game where we had 179 passing yards, our leading rusher should have more than 40 yards.

This was not a good offensive outing. We started out with two nice drives and did fuck all the rest of the day.

It was also one of the best defenses in the league, at least last year, and on the road.

Dak had about 120 of those yards on the first three drives as we built a 14-3 lead. Like yea, you would've loved to see 400 yards of offense, and there's no guarantee that if they needed to do more they would have, but ultimately the offense played really well for about 1.5 quarters and built a lead that allowed them to put it in cruise control based on how the game went and the opponent they were facing (i.e. one of the best pass rushes in the league).

McCarthy was never going to take the offense out of first gear with a 17+ point lead in the second half.

The great thing is, most of us thought if we did win, it would be an ugly, low-scoring game where we squeaked out a few more points than they did. Instead we dominated the whole game on defense and the offense scored enough early to make it a comfortable win.

I don't know that you could expect a lot more than what we got yesterday.

Yeah, but that's the point -- he was borderline elite before he ran into trouble.

Again, I don't feel sorry for him because he brought that trouble on himself, but the aforementioned trouble coupled with the injuries since he left Houston has made it to where the guy hasn't played consistent football since the 2020 season, and that is ultimately why he looks so bad now.

Hasn't been playing, man.

It goes to show that no matter how good you are or how young you are, you can't take all this time away and bounce back from it.

Watson missed the entire 2021 season because of his legal troubles, and since then, he's never played in more than 6 games a season.

And last season, when he was finally starting to show glimpses of the guy he was in Houston? He gets hurt and had to miss the rest of the season.

This is exactly why I was always amazed at how good Josh Gordon was every time he'd come back from another one of his lengthy suspensions. He would come back and ball out as if nothing had ever happened.

I can't think of another player in recent memory who could do that.

As for Watson, I think he's just missed way too much time to build any consistency and I think it's just way too much to come back from now.

You're stuck in a 1990s mind set. Jet Sweeps aren't gimmic anymore. It's just a different way of running a sweep in the NFL today.

I get it, it doesn't feel the same as Zeke running 25 times for 100 yards. But we don't have that dude on the roster and those guys are becoming rare in the NFL. You don't need them.

He has a point though, our traditional running game has to be more effective when we're playing top competition, and you can't just count on jet sweeps for 50 yards a game.
 
If you are starting fights or even getting verbally aggressive over a sporting event, then you are pretty high up on the retard and slack jawed faggot meter.

Yep. After the first two games last year, they were talking about our "historically great defense." Then came the Zona game, the Niners game, the Buffalo game, the Seattle game, the collapse against Miami ...

Yeah this isn't my way of saying we ran the ball well. My point is just that instead of running sweeps with slow ass Zeke, you'll see the WRs doing it instead. Instead of one guy running for 100 yards you'll see those carries split between 3 or 4 guys. You don't need one guy to do it all if you accomplish the same results with 3 guys.

10 for 40 is basically what you want from Zeke this year. It may feel weird but that's what you need from his role now.
