Yeah that's the problem, the Broncos aren't parting with Surtain for scraps. They will want a premium pick in return. And why shouldn't they, he is a young stud corner. Teams burn first round picks for that every single year in the hopes of getting that quality of player. A Surtain, Diggs and Bland combination long term would be pretty insane as well.

But I can't see Jerry giving up a 1st plus some. And if you're the Broncos why settle for anything less? This isn't some old dude who will be gone by the time you can get the ship turned around. The players you want to dump are older guys or guys in contract years.
 
Yeah, this is insanity. Of all positions, why would we pay that much for a corner?

If it is a fire sale, they would be stupid to not pursue in theory. Honestly, they are too risk adverse and money hungry to make it work. Surtain is going to ask for big money after his rookie deal is over. It is way too complicated for them to even bother to try to visualize it.

He's a very good player. Why would Denver give him away? They aren't that stupid.

This is just a lazy media narrative from the facts that he's a big name going back to Alabama and it was common knowledge we wanted him in the draft.

The other fun part is his contract would run up at the exact same time they we are handing Parsons a mega deal. Which would cause some financial heart burn for ole Stephen. I guess you could view him as a rental through 5 years. But you don't want to give up a first round pick for a guy you'll have for maybe 2.5 years.

That is the exact reason it is not a feasible idea. Great in theory but far too much to deal with.

Watkins' whole DMN article is viewable on the Sports Day app. It's a pretty pathetic suckup basically saying Parsons is right about all his criticisms of the media, and his speaking out is just more empowerment of the players by new technology. He bashes all the people who find fault without being experts themselves.

This is from the same clown who told Wade Phillips at a PC that the team would be better if he (Watkins) were coaching it.

I may post it when I get to my phone in a bit.

A RB should be cheap too. Teams aren't trading RBs for premium picks. Ultimately I don't know that it's going to solve our running game (Because the blocking is just bad) but we can't keep running Pollard as much as we are and expect him to last the whole season. Go get a guy with some power who you feel can carry it 10-15 times a game.
 


Translation: This is why we wait on teams to call us because we have no fucking idea who all these new GMs are.
