So the Cowboys organization is great? It's just Dak?

I'll let Jerry know how highly you think of him.
The Cowboys aren’t great, but this organization is vastly superior to anything the Lions have put out since literally ever.

I kinda liked the part where it said Romo and Dak wouldn't be hard to replace at all. Just dial up 1-800-ELITEQB, I guess.
Wasn't it 1-800-Texaco?

Come on, now. I get people being frustrated because Dak isn't as good as they wish he was. But how many people are Mahomes level? Hell, people are saying he has a chance to be the best ever.

Quantifying it with something this absurd is just silly.

No one legitimately expects him to be that good, but the point stands. If he’s not a Mahomes level then all this handwringing about replacing him is misguided. Again, the gulf between Dak and league average is smaller than that between Dak and Mahomes. Dak would not be that hard to replace. “Top 10 QB” means that you are only 5 slots better from league average.

looks like a bunch of trouble.

"Now that he has resolved a felony gun case from 2022, pleading guity to two misdemeanor charges of assault and drawing a deadly weapon, Damon Arnette is hoping for a second chance in the NFL.

If I’m blessed enough to get another chance in the NFL, then I’m going to kill that,” Arnette told reporters outside the courtroom."

Interesting choice of words.

Hey, let's just roll through QBs until we find the next Mahomes. A guy who literally is the best ever possibly. Fuck, some people must want to die before we try to win a Superbowl.

We haven’t been trying the past two decades?

Dak is 30. He’s not some upstart with untapped potential, we know what he is. He’s like an 8-12ish range QB in the league. It’s good but it’s not irreplaceable. The law of averages says we could probably stumble into someone in the 15th ish range basically as a blind squirrel finding a nut.

And at some point when you don’t have a QB in that top 3-5 tier, the return you could get might outweigh the time you have left with said 8-12ish QB especially when weighed in contrast against the mega deal he requires.

Not saying to dump him for peanuts but the “he can’t be replaced,” narrative is just false. We fucking replaced Romo… with a fourth round pick. Dak is worse then Romo. Not saying any old fourth round pick will work but I also don’t fear 3 years at the bottom again if that’s how it plays out. Rebuild can be advantageous and it could even be a quick turnaround if you get even the slightest bit lucky again. At this point with this team I would not expect the post-Aikman years to be replicated if we had to go QB hunting.

What you should be afraid of is being stuck in perpetual mediocrity, which is what we have been since Parcells dragged us out of the gutter. But to homers, every year is a lottery ticket that they can’t bear to stop clutching.

Be real. If Dak doesn’t win a Super Bowl this year with this team then the concept of trading him has merit whether you like it or not.

Yeah, I don't agree that he'd be nearly as easy to replace as you claim. Teams spend years. Decades, trying to find a QB even as good as Dak is.

looks like a bunch of trouble.

If McClay thinks he's very talented and sufficiently motivated, I'm up for rolling the dice. They could use more at 2nd RB. Sometimes these volatile types add something to team chemistry. Just depends how they evaluate him and whether an NFL suspension is likely.

yeah, who did Jones want to draft and where is the guy now?
You mean Manziel, Paxton Lynch, or Connor Cook?

Doesn’t matter the answer is the same. Out of the league.
