Funny, I would have thought that saying he should be replaced was good enough to indicate that I don't think he's the right coach for this team anymore.
Though I wasn't wrong for supporting him "in the first place." It was the right call to fire Wade midseason (unless the right call was to never have hired Wade to begin with), it was the right call to replace him with Garrett midseason, and it was the right call to give Garrett the opportunity to be the head coach permanently, based on his 5-3 record down the stretch that year.
After a few seasons, we are seeing he has issues that he is not improving that are outweighing the positives he does have.
...
As to your question as to "what is more irrational," it would definitely be firing him now and then picking from the crop of guys getting interviewed and hired currently.
I'm not sure I see a realistic option right now that is being discussed about in any NFL circles. If we bring a David Shaw into the conversation, that may be, but as I've said I don't know enough about him. Bill Cowher and Jon Gruden don't appear interested in returning, Mike Shanahan just failed with a meddling owner, and the list of names interviewing and being hired currently would fail here the same way that Garrett, Wade, Campo, and Gailey have all failed under Jerry, so I'm going to resort to my "wait for a legit option" argument, which, as I have said, is the most rational approach.
