Can someone suggest a good resource for looking up available FAs and where they have signed?

I'm looking at a kicker that I know to see whats up with him.

Still cheap compared to Leary's contract. I guess Jerry is going to start overpaying UDFAs now.

Rookie FA Report: Broaddus Evaluates Safety Jakar Hamilton

Posted 5 hours ago

Bryan Broaddus Football Analyst/Scout

Yesterday we evaluated the free agency addition of Akron quarterback Dalton Williams – a noteworthy pickup, as Tony Romo famously rose from the ranks of the undrafted.

Today, the subject is someone the Cowboys actually took a long look at drafting in South Carolina State safety Jakar Hamilton. The former Georgia player spent a year at South Carolina State after transferring, and he was one of the Cowboys’ first phone calls once the draft ended.

The Cowboys have agreed to terms with more than a dozen rookie free agents. Football analyst Bryan Broaddus scouted more than 200 players before the draft, so here’s his breakdown on some of the top players the Cowboys will sign in the next few days.

Name: Jakar Hamilton

Position: Safety

College: South Carolina State

Height/Weight: 5-11/186

Strengths: Was a transfer from Georgia that faced a huge uphill climb even to become eligible this past season. … High character kid. … Nice tackler in space. … Will cover out of the slot. … Can run with his man and stay in position in the route. … Reads well. … Plays off the block. … Outstanding effort to get to the ball. … Does a nice job of playing with his eyes. … Doesn’t get fooled on the play. … Is not afraid to throw his body around and play with a physical nature. … Likes to be around the ball. … Will jump routes on the outside. … Was a kickoff return man at both Georgia and South Carolina State.

Weakness: Physically is not an impressive guy, but not afraid. … Will lower his head at times when he tackles. … Some gather when he is coming out of his pedal. … Is not the most athletic player. … Doesn’t always take the best angles to the ball. … Doesn’t have great timed speed but does have explosive numbers on his vertical (40.5”). … More quick than fast. … Only managed 7 reps at 225 pounds.

He hasn't signed anywhere.

He's no Dylan Poulman.
He goes to my church but I didn't have the heart to ask him if he got picked up yet.

He's coming out during our spring traiing to work with our kickers.

He shouldn't feel bad.

Only about eight kickers a year are picked up immediately either in the draft or as UDFAs.

The Arena League is a great place to get noticed.

Rookie FA Report: Broaddus Evaluates Mizzou RB Lawrence

Posted 6 hours ago

Bryan Broaddus
Football Analyst/Scout

The Cowboys have had recent success with undrafted rookies, with more than a handful winding up on the roster each of the last two years.

Of course, Tony Romo and Miles Austin are two of the best rookie free agents in both Cowboys history, not to mention the entire NFL.
So you never know when the next hidden gem will surface.

The Cowboys have agreed to terms with more than a dozen rookie free agents. Football analyst Bryan Broaddus has scouted more than 200 players so far in the draft, so here’s his breakdown on some of the top players the Cowboys will sign in the next few days.

Name: Kendial Lawrence

Position: Running back

College: Missouri

Height/Weight: 5-9/195

Top Stat: Lawrence saw all his carries go up significantly last season, and his stats followed. He rushed for 1,025 yards on 200 carries, breaking the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career.

Strengths: Explosive player…outstanding start-stop quickness…can take the ball, use his vision, then make a violent cut to find daylight…can cut on a dime…gets through the hole in a hurry…no wasted steps…hit it and go…can see holes…can break tackles one-on-one in space on the outside…quick to carry ball inside than out…will bend the ball all the way to the backside…will catch the ball in the flat…did not see him drop a pass…was used in motion quite a bit, then thrown the ball wide…was used in the slot as well…aware for the blitz pickup….all he needs is a little room to make something happen…can make little plays into big ones…

Weaknesses:Is physically short…doesn’t get much push or drive when he runs the ball inside…is not a great blocker on the blitz pickup…tends to be a cut blocker…might have something to do with his height…had a fumble

on an option play going to his right when he took his eye off the ball and it ended up on the ground…but didn’t see any other problems…will carry the ball between the tackles but not his ideal situation….

Football analyst Bryan Broaddus has scouted more than 200 players who were eligible for the draft, so here’s his breakdown on some of the top players the Cowboys will sign in the next few days.

Name: Taylor Reed
Position: Linebacker
College: Southern Methodist
Height/Weight: 6-0/240

After drafting outside linebacker DeVonte Holloman with their final pick, the Cowboys also added three more linebackers to the roster in undrafted free agency. One of them we’ve already looked at in Arizona State standout Brandon Magee, but Reed was a second-team All-Conference USA selection in 2011 and 2012 after leading the Mustangs in tackling in both years.

Top stat: He notched 101 stops in 2011 and finished just four shy of that in 2012 with 97. More impressive than that was his ability to get takedowns behind the line of scrimmage with a combined 24 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks in his junior and senior seasons.

Strengths: Gets to the ball quickly. … Is a physical, wrap-up tackler in space. … Had over 33 tackles for loss in his career. … Was able to get Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel on the ground. … Is aware for crossing routes in the passing game. … Will disrupt routes inside in zone coverage. … Very active. … Plays with balance. … Can plant and redirect. … Able to carry the tight end up the field out of the slot and knock the ball away in one-on-one coverage. … Plays with some quickness. … Works down the line. … Keeps himself free from blockers. … Has some pop at the point. … Will drive when he sees it. … Will work around blocks. … Effort is outstanding. … Always around the ball.

Weakness: Doesn’t have great height or length. … Not the most effective blitzer. … Used on the cross blitz and struggled to get off the block when he got engaged. … Gets to the ball well, but is not the smoothest moving athlete. … Watched his Pro Day workout and there is some stiffness when he has to turn and run. … Takes him some time to get going.

Rookie FA Report: Broaddus Evaluates W. Alabama LB Lacey

Football analyst Bryan Broaddus has scouted more than 200 players who were eligible for the draft, so here’s his breakdown on some of the top players the Cowboys will sign in the next few days.

Name: Deon Lacey

Position: Linebacker

College: West Alabama

Height/Weight: 6-2/229

Lacey is the third of the Cowboys’ rookie free agent linebacker signees. He also might be one of the most unheralded players reporting to practice in the coming week, as he hails from Division II and the Gulf South Conference with West Alabama.

Lacey helped the Tigers to the GSC championship in 2012, and he finished second on the team with 68 tackles, including a pair of sacks. He was an All-America selection in his 2011 and 2012 seasons, and he was named GSC Defensive Player of the Year in 2011.

The West Alabama program made a surprising amount of noise for a Division II program in free agency. Lacey was one of a trio of players to sign post-draft deals with NFL clubs.

Key Stat: Adding to his abilities as a tackler, Lacey broke up two passes, defended another three and nabbed an interception during his coverage duties last year. He tallied 97 tackles during his Defensive Player of the Year season, with two picks and four passes broken up.

Strengths: Outstanding quickness and speed. … Can really run. … Plays as a Will linebacker the majority of the time, but have seen him line up as a Mike as well. … Really does a nice job of finding the ball and getting in position to make the play. … Is able to work his way through the trash. … Really shows the quickness from the backside chasing the play. … Plays with a wiggle on the blitz. … Can avoid the block, then focus on the ball. … Can really close, which is maybe his best trait. … Good movement on the blitz. … Will bounce off blockers to get to the ball. … Despite his weight (229), he will take on blockers at the point. … Does not try to avoid. … Will hang in there. … Will stay square. … Can really cover some ground when he runs. … Can get to the outside quickly. … Reads fast. … Physical tackler. … Fit to play as a Will linebacker because of his ability to run. … Has a feel for how to blitz. … Outstanding chase of the ball.

Weakness: Looks like a strong safety on tape with his build (6-2, 229). … Upright backpedal. … Not much technique or understanding here of coverage. … Didn’t see him play anything other than zone. … Has quickness to be taught how to cover in man. … Needs to play with his hands better at times. … Fooled one time badly on the read option. … Had another play where he whiffed in the hole on a tackle. … Got caught inside on a block and ball went right by him.
