I think eventually all of them will go to ads at some point. I know Disney+ will be rolling out a service that includes ads as well.

As NoDak mentioned, I think all these streaming companies will end up offering cheaper/basic ad supported versions of their service and the more expensive ad-free packages.

You're right, but I think it's the wrong path. People turned to streaming platforms to get away from the price gouging of cable. And streaming services are more convenient and reliable than pirating so a lot of people don't mind spending a few bucks for the convenience.

But if streaming basically does the same thing cable does - high prices, exclusive content, making you pay for things you don't want just to get the things you do want, and both charging you and making you watch ads (I remember the days when pay channels never ran ads)...well, the high seas will be deluged with swashbucklers, matey.

Me neither. I thought he was talking about that old candy bar.
I used Crackle quite a bit around the 2015-2017 timeframe. It's free and it had a decent library of movies and TV shows. I'm not sure what their current library looks like.

The Seinfeld-Michael Richards bits were pretty funny.

It is just a name now. Definitely not the same.

That All in the Family clip... I didn't even know George Jefferson was played by a different actor.

I hated the Cosby show so much. There was nothing funny in that scene, and yet, laughter and applause from the audience. One of the worst sitcoms ever.
It was complete and utter garbage. I actually liked some of Cosby's work prior to that (Fat Albert and Himself), but that was just crap.

A lot of that era was crap in terms of diverse shows. You got all kinds of stupid shit like Webster and Silver Spoons.
