I don't see how posting the random bad cop video and generalizing that to all or most cops is any different from posting the random bad black person video and generalizing that to all or most black people.
its not, but shhhhhhh, we cant talk about that

That is atrocious, but it doesn’t make the loyd thing less, it makes it even worse. Just like any other case like this in the future will be worse. Police needs better training, higher standards.
More training might do something for inexperienced police officers but it will do nothing for officers who are bias enough to go to extremes when they are on duty. Alll these officers at the scene knew what was happening and what the outcome would be but their bias and obvious hatred allowed this to happen. What was needed is officers that aren’t afraid to tell their comrades that they will have no part in this type of enforcement and take action to stop it . An officer that is allowing this type of behavior to skate will not be a asset to the police force. What is needed is a daily reminder to the officers that they cannot do this type of enforcement. Observed signs of bias should lead to potential dismissal.

I am aware of the union protection factor but this is a perfect time to bring in union leaders and get them to be the first line of addressing bias behavior.

Just like we shouldn't let the small percentage of thugs rioting represent any one whole race.

I will say this. Cops, like teachers, don't need to be composed of the lower strata of income level.

If so, you get what you pay for and society suffers at the end.
Great point, @boozeman

It would be interesting to see how much $ is spent on military-grade technology for police.

Like most government, I'm sure there are grants where the money can only be spent on equipment rather than personnel.

The police do need to be trained to be more tactful, but even more important IMO is that departments need to be able to pay a decent wage to good cops. Just like teachers, it's a shame that the people we depend on so heavily in our society are paid such a meager wage.

While this fuckstick cop is beyond defending, defunding police forces is not the answer. If anything, they need to be funded more in order to increase effectiveness on hiring the right people and training them appropriately.
Don’t tell Nodick, his police is perfect...

What in the actual fuck? Is this incredibly classless imbecile capable of a non-retarded thought?

How on earth is this great news for George Floyd? He's dead.

Hence the higher standards, as in better psychological evaluations and wages to attract more of the interested in law and order crowd and weed out the gun and badge gives me power crowd.

Bill Murray’s son apparently was arrested for arson and battery against a cop.

I bet he’s proud.

It's not.

Yeah, that's fucked up. He's good for a cringe-worthy comment per day.

Nobody said that except you, dumbass. But keep on keepin' on. It's quite humorous watching some idiot preaching how to clean things up, when their own house is a fucking mess.
Because I’m in charge of the Mexican police... you’re such a wanker, but say everything with bravado and you’re golden

I’m really not sure more money is the answer to weeding out bias in the policing profession. Of course more money is good for retaining good policemen (and women) but I think the psyche of a person that is drawn to this profession is the primary factor that is the most compelling. Some want to be in law enforcement because they think they can make a difference or they are seeking the power trip. Either can be very good law enforcement officers. The factor however that is a taboo to either motive for becoming a policemen is whether there is a racial bias dwelling in their make up. More money won’t solve this problem.

Somewhere in the initial interviewing process all the way to the training system there needs to be a process for detecting this bias. If and when it seems conclusive then the career is terminated for cause. There also needs to be a ruling devised for legal systems that allows and protects the diligence process even though actual overt bias actions were never exhibited. Finally the system of processing and training needs to have a process to detect whether the training phase actually changed the mentality of the candidate and allows them to continue their pursuit.
