If you think it is just McDonalds, it ain’t.
I don't think its just McDonalds.
But I do think it's largely inflation.
I mean, I'm sure their profits are up. I'm less sure that their profit margins have increased, it might be the same profit margins just on higher volume.
But I'm also quite sure that their costs are up.
They have to contend with pressure to pay every employee $15-$20 an hour, which is far more than most of them deserve to sit around and scratch their asses, which is what 80% of them do. They have to contend with ridiculously rising rent and property costs as well as fast rising property taxes, most of which can be directly attributed to mismanagement of some kind or another during the last Presidential administration. And inflation has in fact his food prices.
People have to stop eating out, though. No one wants to admit it, but it is in fact easier and smarter, if you are struggling financially, to maybe have breakfast for dinner a few times a week, and the other times, you have to fucking suck it up and struggle though preparing a dinner.
I know what it's like, I'm in a house where both parents work and kids have activities. It's awful. Some nights I'm like "Ugh, I have to have chili AGAIN, I want to kill myself" - because it's really easy to brown a package of ground beef and dump in tomato sauce and a McCormick's seasoning pack.
It's an $8 meal for the whole family though.
Try going to McDonalds with two adults, a ten year old and an 8 year old. I dare you to spend less than $30 if not $40.
