Smaller government and greater individual liberty is the biggest element of Reaganism and Trumpism.

How do you define Reagan Republican then? And why is Trump so different (other than we're cultists, blah blah blah)? A lot of the stuff Reagan got criticized for is the same stuff Trump gets criticized for -- he's an actor, he's dumb, he's an outsider, he doesn't know what he's doing, etc.

Greatest individual liberty? Can you seriously say that with a straight face? You're talking about Trump, the guy who wants to have the FCC rescind the license of CBS because of the way they edited an interview with Harris? Trump, who said that protestors should be shot in the fucking leg? Are you fucking kidding me?

And yes, Reagan was made fun of... A LOT. But he didn't run for President on a fucking lark or as a ploy to get more money out of a network when he found out that a group of kids were making more. Reagan had experience in government as the governor of California and at least had sense to listen to the people around him, and would never slap these ridiculous tariffs on trade partners because he knew it would kill the economy he was trying to help recover.

Imagine Trump telling Putin to get out of Ukraine like Reagan told Gorbachev to tear down the wall. Won't fucking happen because Trump is now officially Putin's lapdog.

1. Right, the President who reduces regulations, fights for gun rights, doesn't want to mandate vaccines, and makes government smaller among other things is anti-liberty.

Really, you sound like a collection of MSNBC talking points. This is like saying he's a dictator because he told Hillary "You'd be in jail." Did he actually put her in jail? No, but you want to cling to some dumb things he says. (And yes, he does say some dumb things.)

2. More of this "Trump is only doing this to benefit himself" stuff? When they tried to bankrupt, imprison, and even kill him after he decided to run again? He's the only President whose net worth has declined from becoming President. But sure, it's 100% selfishness.

And we don't care that he wasn't a politician before. That's a positive, not a negative.

3. Again with the "lapdog" stuff. So original. People are sick of the forever wars. We can't afford them even if we did want them.

Heck, Reagan came out and called the Soviet Union the Evil Empire when everyone else seemed to think we should be conciliatory and tiptoe around them and be nice.

But Reagan told the truth and he was right.

Not that far from the type of things Trump says. Reagan was generally smoother and less crass of course, but it's not that far from saying things like zelenskyyyyyyyy is a dictator.

Reagan called them the evil empire, and Trump refuses to acknowledge that Russia even invaded Ukraine, or that Putin is in fact the dictator.

He's just clowning himself at this point.

He's not a conservative. Maybe he was, but he's not anymore.

He's all about hating Trump and that's all his political schtick is about. Trump bad. Trump bad. Trump bad.

If he was really a "Reagan Republican," -- and I do know what that is way better than he does -- then he would at least be applauding the rhetoric and pointing out where they can do better.

Instead he is shitting all over the attempts, calling him a dictator, calling him evil, calling him corrupt, you know, all the things the left does because they don't want him ending their grift.

I don't think Irv has any personal stake in the grift (I could be wrong, he's ex military, so you never know) but he swallowed the TDS pills so hard that he may be too far gone to ever understand conservatism again. He thinks endless wars and bloated government are conservative things.
