Do you and the wife have rules about what happens in an emergency if the Johnsons across the street try to move in on your shit?

Are you the people that turn people away or let them in? I’m just asking, because if the Johnsons come in on your shit, that takes your 60 day supply down to 30 just like that. Then you have to consider that the Smiths next door probably saw you let the Johnsons
in, and being that the Smiths are black, they’ll have to assume you’re racist if you don’t let them in.

Pretty soon you have half the neighborhood sitting in your livingroom and you guys are drawing short straws for who’s going out for supplies.
This sounds more like a doomsday movie script but to answer your question I am not sure how I would react if such a circumstance occurred. I would have to evaluate self preservation versus the Christian Ethic and probably the Christian ethic would prevail. Common sense tells me that if the situation became that desperate there would be little to try to survive for,

We keep a supply of our needs and at present could go a minimum of 60 days with little sacrifice. That just what we do because we are people who still prepare the majority of our meals from scratch and actually prefer to eat at home rather than going out. We also continually stock paper goods that represents about 60 days. This has been our habit for many years.
Fresh produce don’t last 60 days, I guess preparing from scratch means opening the can/box/bag in your home...

Of course canned goods are part of your pantry. The freezer(s) host many things. With the right containers and preparation some produce can last up to 30 days but we don’t eat fresh produce every day.

Raise your hand if you are not freaking out and haven’t been hoarding supplies(toilet paper/hand sanitizer/water).

I wanna know who I can trust for when the real shot goes down.
Couldn't hoard shit if I wanted to. TP, hand sanitizer all gone.

Here's a great show to watch during our current apocalypse, its 10 parts

guess I'm an old fart but basketball seemed so much more exciting 20+ years ago. The rivalries were intense as hell and fun to follow

This is my take on this. It should be up to the individual businesses to shut down or not. The government shouldn't be the ones dictating this.

That sounds fair in theory, but the problem is that people are stupid and sometimes you have to protect them from themselves.

Have you not seen on the corona virus challenge shit out there? People are actually intentionally doing stupid unsafe things to show that they aren't scared. Get multiple types of those people together in the same place, and liquored up, and you have the potential for disaster.

I'm not one for fear-mongering, but I also believe in being cautious and if we as a country have to go to extremes to ensure this shit doesn't spread like it has in Europe, then I'm all for it.

No way am I trusting Joe neighbor to make the right choice.

I agree with you that people are stupid and have to protected from themselves occasionally, but for the government to mandate it could spell disaster for most small businesses. Especially if they mandate they pay their employees while they are closed.
