That's why I'm saying your example isn't a good comparison. I don't believe we just loaned them money with no knowledge or expectation of what they were doing with the money. But maybe I'm wrong. A loan implies that we are being repaid those funds. I'm not aware of that.
Now if the conspiracy is that America intentionally helped develop and release the virus into the population intentionally, I'd say that's not the case. But I certainly think giving a program money with the knowledge that the money is going to be used to create dangerous viruses does at least make us somewhat culpable. I'm not buying what Fauchi claims about the funding situation. They knew what the money was being used for. Everyone knew.
Here is what I know. The NIH is a Federal Agency. The NIH gave grants (Not a loan that I know of) specifically for gain of function research that included the construction of mutated SAR related coronavirus. So you have US Government Agency paying for exactly what happened. Anyway, not a hill I want to die on. But if I'm wrong on my facts let me know.
