All I know is that if I was in the military and someone else received more pay for the exact same work I'd be pissed. I hear you about the moving, but there are many members of the military who that doesn't apply to. Who still get paid more but work in one location.
I was beyond pissed. As you may have guessed from my long catalog of slights listed above. I was incredibly bitter through most of my enlistment. Not just because of that, but if I had been treated more like my married counterparts, it would have been a considerable improvement in my quality of life.
Thankfully the civilian sector has been much kinder to me. I'm buying a house right now, and thanks to not being married, I don't have to include my girlfriend on any of my applications. My credit is pristine. Hers not so much. If I had been married, it wouldn't matter if I was the only one paying the mortgage (we keep our finances separate)
That damn certificate means her financial history is tied to mine.
