That's fair, maybe the personal connection would give his opinions more weight. Maybe.
Best case scenario we're talking a top tier HC with a Parcells-like mentality who can play footsie with Jerry's dumbassery. Might not work out but it's our best shot until Jerry is gone.

Payton is basically the only person in the world who could thread that needle.

If Sean makes enough money in TV and enjoys it, he might not coach again anyway.

I am pretty certain that McCarthy doesn't take Peyton's team this season with no QB and finish 9-8.
Eh. That's something we'll never know. You think one thing, I think another. It's all good.

Bottom line was Payton knew how important the DL and running game is, committing to the run (where McCarthy does so begrudgingly), and especially throwing to RB's by design. Saints teams always had strong running games and really solid DLs.

You can pass all day if you can run, even with a noodle-armed later-years Drew Brees... so simple and Payton always got it.

And then Payton is as good as anyone using the passing game.

If anyone can get the most mileage out of Dak, it's Sean Payton.

I disagree here. I bet they read differently. I bet McCarthy has his hobbies and favorite food on it.

One thing about being an NFL HC, once you're in, you're in. Like some fuckin club. It doesn't matter. Even mediocrities or outright shitbag coaches like Lovie Smith get second and third shots.

We don't know if any of that is true. But it sounds good, soo.....
seeing and hearing the man operate for nearly 35 years, what does your gut tell you about Jerral Jones and his infatuation with certain coaches? Garrett was his all time love.

Lovie Smith somehow got a team to a Super Bowl, that does count even if he only hangs out with Dungy during reunions.

There are different levels of shit bags that are in the club. You can take a look around at the lifers that go from team to team to team. The assistant ranks are literally flushed with kids of the head coach. Nepotism is a far bigger deal than a simple handshake club.

You mean same net number of Championships? True.

I think McCarthy depended on his superstar QB quite a bit more than Payton. And frankly as much as I liked Brees’s smarts, his noodle arm and overall skill set wasn’t at the same level as Rodgers’.

GB also always had Chicago, Detroit, and Minnesota to carry them that extra bit to get more opportunities. Since Rodgers arrived Minnesota won a few times and Chicago maybe twice, but the rest was GB irrespective of the coach.

Payton, for whatever reason, landed in a very competitive division facing some solid QBing from Cam Newton (for about six years), Matt Ryan, and recently Tom Brady.

It’s a miracle he did what he did with the retarded QBs he had this year.

Maybe he didn't want to have one. He had a great run with Brees.

When the best the organization can do is tell you to fix Jameis Winston and you kind of do, his work was done there.

What I don't get is the Taysom Hill push. If that is Peyton's idea and Loomis just paid him, I dunno.

Lost a little off his fastball in later years but no noodle arm. That's Heinecke.
