So Bond is nerdy now? Okay.

AquamanI have always been a Connery fan as well, but the more I watch the Craig versions the more I like him. These latest ones have shifted from some of the Camp that older Bonds had to a more Dark Knight approach in terms of seriousness. The last one with Benicio as the bad guy brought a little of the odd humor back and according to Craig, the next may have even more of the old style to it.
It only seems to fit with Bond as a code name because there have been 23 movies over 50 years so the actors have been different; just like that Batman movies. James Bond is James Bond, his code name is 007. When he dies, or retires you could have another 007. Or, if, as you suggest, they write a story line where Bond gets hurt, or dies, or retires then they use Idris as a stand in under his name, they might could make that work, but you would think then all the bad guys who have dealt with and survived would go, "uh, Bond is white dude?" It doesn't sound at all like that is the suggestion from the original article. They just want to take him and say, "Ok people, Bond is now a black guy!. I love how we take the stupidest of things and make an ongoing thread about it.
Ok next thread is "Batman or superman, Which is DC's greatest hero?"
Hombre de Agua?My favorite is Aguaman. It's the Mexican version...you wouldn't understand.
You make me proud...Hombre de Agua?
Does he give people diarrhea? My favorite is Aguaman. It's the Mexican version...you wouldn't understand.
I think that's Montezuma Man.Does he give people diarrhea?
I didn't have issue with that either.Although she's a minor character, I didn't see any uproar when Moneypenny was rebooted as a black chick in the last movie.
I haven't and likely won't see it. But likely no more than I did when Charleton Heston played him. I did however see Noah and had real problems with that movie no matter who played him. But I understand what you are getting at with this. I can't help that the industry feels that they have completely alter the physical appearance of historical characters. But developing black actors and roles for those actors is what they should do. They do it for Denzel, (latest movie the exception), The Rock plays whatever they want him to play and does it mostly successfully. It isn't as if black actors can't succeed. Since he is the topic, I'm sure Elba could play any role they wanted him for. Again, what is needed is more originality and trust that people will accept great black actors playing parts that they should be hired for. And I stand by my assertion that James Bond isn't one of them. They already took the part of the CIA guy he works with and mad his character black along with Moneypenny. . Why not have Bond work with a super talented black spy from the US or another Brit and try to spin that off?Forts did you have an issue with Bale playing Moses in Exodus?
Why not have Bond be black, they altered the role of Moses for a white guy, you cannot get more iconic than that.I didn't have issue with that either.

While we're at it, why not have Superman be fat? Fat people are far less included in superhero movies than black people. Why not have Bond be black, they altered the role of Moses for a white guy, you cannot get more iconic than that.
My point is it does not really matter as long as the actor and movie are good, you act like this is some special circumstance.
Careful. I made a joke similiar that at the onset of this thread and was Jiggy sanctioned. While we're at it, why not have Superman be fat? Fat people are far less included in superhero movies than black people.
Do you really think this is a equal opportunity thing?Careful. I made a joke similiar that at the onset of this thread and was Jiggy sanctioned.
A white guy can play a Semitic guy, and with a little more difficulty a black guy can play a white guy (or even white chicks, but you should never watch that movie), but that is still different than taking a characters race and changing it.Forts did you have an issue with Bale playing Moses in Exodus?
How many Bonds have ever played a Scot?A white guy can play a Semitic guy, and with a little more difficulty a black guy can play a white guy (or even white chicks, but you should never watch that movie), but that is still different than taking a characters race and changing it.
Who ever plays Moses is still playing a Jew, will Elba still be playing a Scot?
What movie is this, I have to see it.My favorite totally wrong race for the role is of course John Wayne as Genghis Khan. Which is to say John Wayne in a Fu Manchu not even trying to act like anyone but John Wayne.
One things for sure, it is not a case of affirmative action, they are doing what they think will make them the most money. Good luck to them, that is their right. How many Bonds have ever played a Scot?
But my point was that there are plenty of Semitic actors who could have played Moses, but the studio went for star power the same way they are doing with Elba.
No. I thought it was a Rush Limbugh thing because he is a controversial figure that provokes people's opinions.Do you really think this is a equal opportunity thing?
I agree. One things for sure, it is not a case of affirmative action, they are doing what they think will make them the most money. Good luck to them, that is their right.
In general I have a problem with taking comic book characters and changing their races. If marvel wanted black super hero's maybe they should write more black super hero's, and if those aren't popular maybe there is a reason and they don't shove that shit down our throats with bad movies.
On the other hand, they are all just productions of a platonic story in our heads, who really gives a fuck how many interpretations of that story are brought to life.
