So they curiously removed "God" twice, but because Trump wasn't specific about the number of times they did that, he's a liar. Unfuckingbelievable.
It’s a game, but it’s a game they’re winning because they’re in charge.

I don’t remember if I posed the question here, so I’ll just ask.

What do you guys think is going to happen when Derek Chauvin can’t be convicted? I seem to remember the charges being upgraded to 2nd degree murder?

If it looks bad now, all the unrest, how bad does it get when they can’t show a jury that he attempted to Murder George Floyd?
Its a shit sandwich, he has to get convicted and sentenced to jail for a significant amount of time or all hell will break loose which undermines the right to a fair trial imo. The pressure to convict will be intense and if somehow the evidence supports a not guilty verdict for 2nd degree murder, I seriously doubt a jury could withstand the public pressure to convict and find him "not guilty".

Then again, it only takes one

Well this is what happens when idiots riot and demand they overcharge someone, e.g. George Zimmerman

what do you think the charge should be?

I'm not real familiar with the difference between the legal terms but looking up 1st and 2nd degree murder but in no way do I think 1st degree should be charged. The definition of 2nd degree murder sounds ok but my gut feels like it shouldn't be called murder because in my mind, murder seems to imply deliberate intent but I think I'm wrong in always applying that to the definition of murder.

3rd degree seems more appropriate based on what Ive seen so far

What is the difference between first and second-degree murder?

First-degree murder

The most serious charge for murder is designated as a first-degree murder. This charge is given when it is believed that the defendant has planned and then carried out a murder with an element of malice. It will be up to the prosecuting attorney to prove the defendant had a plan to murder the victim and was aware that their actions would result in a death. A couple of examples of a first-degree murder charge may come when a bomb or a poison were used.

In Tennessee, a felony murder, which is a murder that is committed during the act of a violent felony, can also be classified as a first-degree murder. Tennessee is a capital punishment state, which means a first-degree murder conviction could result in a death sentence.

Second-degree murder

The designation for second-degree murder is placed on a defendant when it is believed the murder was committed without it being deliberate or premeditated. It may even be clear that the defendant wanted to cause harm to the victim, but there was not an intent to kill.

Many times, a situation arises where the defendant becomes so instantly enraged that only wanting to harm goes beyond what was anticipated and the victim dies. Second-degree murder typically involves jail time and in some serious cases lead to a life sentence.

Third-degree murder

Often, third-degree murder is referred to as manslaughter. This type of murder can be designated as a time when a murder was committed but there was no plan or even an intent to harm.

Sometimes manslaughter can even be classified as voluntary or involuntary. Examples being that voluntary manslaughter arises if the defendant is suddenly provoked and while, in the midst of anger, causes enough harm to someone that they die. Involuntary manslaughter generally means that the defendant was reckless in their actions and the result caused someone to die.

Pinpointing the differences to each of these types of murders can be written out somewhat easily, but when faced with evidence and questions of intent, finding the correct designation for a particular murder can be difficult.

According to Minnesota’s state statutes, a person can be charged with second-degree murder under two conditions. First, if the person “causes the death of a human being with intent to effect the death of that person or another, but without premeditation." Second, if the person causes the death “while committing or attempting to commit a drive-by shooting."

Good luck proving he intended to kill him

If they want a conviction it should be 3rd degree like they originally charged

3rd degree murder would get you a conviction. Nobody would argue.

They can’t expect to get a 2nd degree murder conviction unless they favorably stack a jury.

You have that trial in somewhere other than Minneapolis and he’ll never be convicted of 2nd degree murder.

or the jury is too scared to go against the public pressure to convict. Given so many people are flagellating themselves publicly to appear woke and virtuous, it should be too hard to find 12 jury members with this affliction

Yea but all the defense has to do is get one juror with a backbone on there

If Trump wins, that will become a regular occurrence. You can bet on it.

Yeah, and worse. If Democrats(If Trump wins) don’t lose gracefully and calm their base, the potential for a civil war is real. One side is already in the provoking stage. All it’s going to take is the other side finally saying enough is enough.

I’m sure a lot of folks who think they’ll sit on the sidelines and watch, that’s not going to be a choice. If you look a certain way, live in a certain area of town, work a certain kind of job, You won’t be able to make the choice to be neutral.

I’m not a military vet, I never wanted to be. I’m thankful that there are people among us who chose to do that job in order for people like me to enjoy the freedoms they’ve sacrificed themselves to fight for. It takes a special kind of Hero to do that job.

That said, I am willing to do whatever it takes to ensure this country doesn’t fold in on itself. If people who have a different vision for America think they have the right to place my family, property, and community in danger in order to advance their cause, they have another fucking thing coming. We have a system designed to advance popular opinion.

Remarks as prepared for delivery:

My name is Jeff Van Drew.
I speak to you as a member of the Republican Party – but it wasn’t always that way.
How I became a Republican says a lot about today’s Democrat Party.
I’m from South Jersey – where we work hard, look after our neighbors and care about our communities.
Years ago, I was a local dentist and was asked by the Democrats to run for a town council seat.
I had my doubts and explained that my views were middle of the road to conservative…but the local leaders said the Democrat Party was a big tent, and that they accepted people like me.
I was elected to Council as a Democrat, but as I won seats for county office, state legislature and then Congress, I noticed things were changing—the Democrat Party had become less accepting of American tradition, less believing in American exceptionalism, less supportive of traditional faith and family.
This was not the party that I knew.
In 2018 after being elected to Congress as a Democrat, I was already uncomfortable with a San Francisco liberal running the House, which is why my first vote in Congress was cast against Nancy Pelosi for Speaker.
But imagine how I felt after seeing members of The Squad quickly take control of the Democrat Party just weeks after being elected.
The party had moved from liberal to radical.
This new Democrat Party wasn’t just for higher taxes…now they were for open borders…against our police…and against our God-given rights.
When the radical Democrats went after President Trump with impeachment, they made another mistake: Democrat leaders told me that I had to vote for impeachment or my life would be made difficult…and I wouldn’t be allowed to run again.
Listen, I’m from South Jersey.
And you’d better come at me with more than just loud words and empty threats.
I voted no on impeachment – and it was an easy call.
Soon after, I met with President Trump and he made me feel more welcome in the Oval Office than Nancy Pelosi ever made me feel in her caucus… and a few days later, I officially changed parties and became a Republican.
Let me tell you about Joe Biden.
When the Democrats tried to order me around…I was ready, willing and able to say I’ve had enough with their radical, Socialist agenda.
Do you really believe Joe Biden is ready, willing – and most of all – able to do the same?
As Joe says, “come on, man.”
Joe Biden is being told what to do by the radicals running my former party…the same radicals trying to install him as their puppet president.
When I’m at my local Diner, I tell people that America is the best nation in the world…and that President Trump has helped make it that way.
Republicans, Independents, and even Democrats, they all know that in President Trump’s America, we have a strong military, strong support for our police, strong support for our Veterans and Seniors.
In President Trump’s America, we have a strong supply chain, good schools, we’re energy independent and protect our environment.
There are a lot of Democrats who support our President…and are disgusted for what their old Party – what my old Party – has become.
Here’s my advice: be true to who you are now, not who the Democrats used to be.
That’s why I am a proud Republican, and why I will be voting for Donald Trump.
Thank you.
May God Bless you, God Bless our President and God Bless the United States of America.

It's a shallow, knee-jerk decision by Goodyear, but I think it was dumb of Trump to mention boycotting them, because 60k Americans work for them. What if enough people do boycott them and it costs those workers their jobs? Some of those workers are probably thinking, WTF, does my own president want me to lose my job?

He should have said something like, "Goodyear's policy is wrong and I bet a large percentage of their own workers disagree with it. Why doesn't Goodyear care what they think?"

I think that would expose them and put pressure on them without possibly costing him votes among those Goodyear workers.
Sorry for the late reply because the Goodyear thing is old news but I wanted to provide some info on this incident. I used to work for Goodyear and still have many contacts in the company and some of them are pretty high up on the totem pole. I reached out to a few of them that I trust and was told that the issue was local to the plant in Kansas. It did not come down from Goodyear corporate. Goodyear is a very shitty company and is terribly managed but they are not stupid enough to do something like that. It was a rogue HR person at the Topeka tire plant who did that. That HR person is most likely a democRAT. The people I contacted are all right leaning people who I still occasionally meet for lunch and we always talk politics so I know they are still very conservative like I am. They also hate Goodyear as much as I do but never had the balls to leave like I did. That was the best decision I ever made. I have advanced much higher at the new company than I ever could have with Goodyear bcuase the only way to really advance there was to be an ass kisser.

This is just a side note but I boycott Goodyear because their tires suck not because of anything Trump said. I even used to get a 25% discount on their tires when I worked for them and eventually learned to quit buying them because they wear out way too fast. Heck I could still easily get some of the 25% discount coupons from the people I know who work their because none of them use Goodyear tires either. I will add that Goodyear was a good company that made good tires up until the time that Stan Gault retired as CEO in 1996. The company went downhill fast after he retired under the new CEO Sam Gibara and still sucks under whoever the CEO is now.
