Targeting specific positions has worked so well the last few years...

Yeah it's never a good idea. Especially on a team where it's a shorter list of positions you don't need as opposed to the ones that you do need. You could easily draft BPA and claim whoever you pick fits a need. Outside of maybe kicker.

I really like him but he is on the smaller size. Just under 5'8" 207 pounds. We aren't talking Duece Vaughn small but he isn't big either. I will say this, he also sounded pretty confident about his speed at the interview. Says he thinks he will run a 4.3 range forty but for sure will hit 4.4. That's some pretty impressive speed. Maybe a guy that you pair with a bigger back later in the draft or free agency. Again, I definitely like the player but you really have to think in terms of a tandem when it comes to him. He isn't going to be the workhorse type that punishes a defense.

I could see them wanting to pair him with Dowdle, it wouldn't be my ideal scenario although I think it could be a solid pairing if they add a weapon in the passing game like McMillan or Warren.

I could see Harvey turning into a Pollard-caliber player.

Yeah, nothing personal against the guy but he isn't exactly my cup of tea. I think he is a really good player but I don't know that I trust the Cowboys to really utilize him correctly. I would go a different direction if we go RB in the second/third round. And I don't see him getting to the fifth round. I think Harvey is a guy I'd take in the fourth round. But we don't have a fourth round pick and I'm not sure he gets that far even if we did. To me he is Blake Corum except with more pure straight line speed. Blake went in the third, with the extra speed and the depth at RB of this draft class, I think he also goes in the third.

If I'm taking a third round RB (Assuming Jeanty, Kaleb and Hampton are off the board) I'm probably looking at Judkins as my top guy. I love the way he runs and punishes. He might only have a 4 or 5 year career but that's ok with me.

Yea, Judkins is clearly a better prospect and more likely to be a bell cow type.

With that said, I think guys like Sampson, Henderson and Harvey bring a more explosive dynamic and would make sense next to Dowdle. Of course I don't think Dowdle is a long-term solution so I wouldn't draft with him in mind, which is why I'd take the better overall guy like Judkins, but I do think a potential Sampson/Dowdle pairing might be more explosive overall.

The issue would be that we'd be on the search for something closer to a bell cow type almost immediately with taking a guy like that.

I liked how someone (Slater?) asked BS if they'd do the committee thing at RB this year, and he said, "That depends on who we have on the team."

So hopefully we don't force anything, just take the best players and then work it out.
