Here's the thing: Of course Russia probably meddled in our election, hacked the DNC, etc.

We do that to everyone else, too.
Correct, but if you get caught, you get called out and punished. For some reason, Trump is fine with sanctions against Russia but can't bring himself to slam Putin to his face.

Trump really needs to push to legalize marijuana federally.

That would put him over the top for 2020 for sure.
I dont know if anything g has even started but he did tweet something along the lines of letting it be a states decision and wouldnt pursue it federally. I know that isnt exactly the same thing but its a step closer and just a matter of time.

That was Obama's policy, which was briefly reversed when Trump was elected and uber right winger Jeff Sessions was put in charge of the DOJ. But it does seem that Trump has backed off marijuana enforcement over Sessions' objections. However, pushing legalization legislation would, simply put, earn him the vote of millions of non-voters to whom he'd be a complete hero.

You can’t have it both ways, he’s either a blithering idiot who has a hard time tying his shoes, or a criminal mastermind who went out and convinced Russia to help him win an election.
I think the anti-Trump groups think he's a blithering idiot that Rusia went out and convinced he could win the election with their help...:shrug

I think the legislation should simply read that it is up to the states to decide.

I guess that’s more realistic than the alternative.

How else can you explain Hillary Clinton losing a general election with nearly a billion dollars worth of wind at her back?

I’m just wondering, when all this hysteria is over after the GOP keeps both houses in November, and this little bullshit collusion story turns out to be bogus, where will the Dems and Media go to get their credibility back? I know they don’t have much as it is, but how will either recover?

Isn’t that where it is currently? The states currently have the say so about the laws but that isn’t convenient for the pro pot group. They want the feds to take over and force the states to comply whether they agree or not. In fact I think that is the position for a great deal of this forums members. I brought the local community position a little while back and it went begging.

Technically, no. It is still illegal at the federal level and if the feds wanted to be dicks they could shut down the states that have made it legal. The pro pots groups want the feds to officially declare it legal for the states to make it legal within their borders.

I just remember seeing a tweet within the last few months where he stated that and I agree with your voting sentiment.

I think we are saying the same thing. By the feds declaring it illegal, the states still can in fact vote their own mandates of making it legal or no. That’s why it is a checkerboard currently. The pro pot advocates want the Feds to make it legal across the board and take any control from a state mandate.

So the states can declare something legal even when the feds declare it ilegal, but can not declare ilegal something that the feds declare legal?

Yes. It’s is already in play. Pot is illegal as far as the federal law is concerned but several states have legalized it.

No, the states can determine what they want to be illegal or not illegal. It's state law. But a person is also subject to federal laws. You've probably heard of someone being charged Federally before. That's not through the state courts. You can be charged in Federal Court.

So even if the Federal Government legalized weed it would still be up to individual states to change their laws. Although most state laws and constitutions are based on similar federal laws.

This is correct.
