I’m of a couple minds.
Trump is absolutely unfairly targeted for things that all our politicians do. It’s sad that they all do it, that the rules are so convoluted that they can usually hide their bending of the rules, etc. Somehow Bob Menendez has escaped conviction for any of the many crimes he’s committed. It’s the same as the NYC developer fine he got, all the developers do it.
On the other hand Trump made himself a target and didn’t engender political protection from the allies he needed. He banged a pornstar and paid hush money to cover it up. Whether you should be guilty of a felony for this stuff is one thing, but maybe you need to be not doing that stuff originally? Not sure George W. Bush or Ronald Reagan were banging pornstars.
Trump has the capability to do a lot of good because he doesn’t play by the establishment rules, but that cavalier attitude is catching up with him. It’s why I thought he should step back this election cycle and be a power broker instead of a candidate.
The Democrats should be ashamed at how low they have stooped to try to stop him and obtain power, but they have no souls.

Come on, man. There is no "engenderimg political protection" from leftists who hate you. And that has nothing to do with the facts of this case anyway. Sweet talking or currying favor with a prosecutor or judge should never be a factor in this country.
And neither banging porm star nor paying her to be quiet is a crime anyway.
This entire thing was a Beria Stalinist show trial and an absolute abomination from head to toe. There is no excuse for it, and it should never happen in this country.
