So just a quick annoyance that I want to point out on this government shutdown. I see that Democrats are now trying to frame this as Republicans withholding SNAP to starve children. And that we need to somehow cover that while the government is shutdown.

And don't get me wrong I get the need for food assistance for some people. But it's like the whole other part of this is being ignored. Like what about the people with government jobs who are working and not receiving a paycheck? Like how the fuck do they feed their kids. You know, the people actually trying to take care of their families by working? You're going to ignore them to have a pissing match about subsidies that basically line the pockets of shitbag insurance companies?

Anyway, rant over. I feel for my sister a bit who is a air traffic controller with three kids. Who literally picked up and moved to Chicago for her job, goes back home on the weekends in Iowa and isn't even getting paid. But we are worried about people not getting their free handouts?

This is entirely on the Democrats by the way. Who are just exerting the only power they have left because the elections went badly for them. But it's a dirt bag move over issues that people don't care about. Those subsidies just drive the insurance companies to charge more.

But the Dems are the ones who care about people! They have all the empathy!

Anyway, an aside: I got a copy of Andrew Breitbart's Righteous Indignation, which surprisingly is a real page-turner. I'm sure Irv has it on his nightstand right now. But it was published in 2012, so pre-dates Trump by several years. And it's amazing how much of what he talks about in that book is exactly like what's going on today. I've always had strong political views but didn't get involved in the day-to-day nitty gritty until 2020, so to me a lot of this stuff seems relatively new and recent. But no, the Dem party turned many years ago. The lies, the underhanded tactics, the collaboration with the MSM, the Marxist underpinnings, and so much more... it all goes back decades.

Which is why they are trying to claim the loss of SNAP coming up (from the shutdown) is the Republicans trying to starve people. The Democrats playbook is give handouts and use the threat of loss of those handouts to keep power. The more reliant people are on government the more leverage the Democrats have.

Well stated. Couldn't agree more.

Excellent! You'll like it. Like I said, it's a real page-turner, which I didn't expect. Very fast and fun read.
