On May 8, 1945, the German Instrument of Surrender was signed in Karlshorst, Berlin, marking the end of World War II in Europe and celebrated as Victory in Europe Day.

Symbolism. I don’t really care because most of the true shit birds that deserve it will likely not go there, rather some posh country club Federal pen.

If it was too dilapidated and expensive to run in 1963 then imagine how much it will be to open it back up.

I visited there in 2002 and it was pretty run down except for the specific routes on the tour, namely the upper floors of the main cellhouse. That salty air plays havoc on the concrete there. I just don't see it happening.

Not to mention constructions costs there probably cost twice as much. I don't really care if they reopen it. But it seems like a large cost for a small benefit.
