I'm sure many of you remember the "2-for-1" deal we had forced on us in 1993 with Billary... I'm sort of getting that same vibe again, except now it's 3-for-1 and I like it about as much as I did the first time around.

How can you like or dislike anything when they aren't even in office yet?

And how can anyone have a problem with at least trying to eliminate the massive waste and inefficiency in our government? We can't keep spending like this forever.

This should be a bipartisan issue, but for some reason (I know the reason for a lot of them) spending is never an issue for Dems. Never.

I didn't like the attitude from the Clintons that they came as a matched pair that they spouted even before that 92 election. I doubt many on here did either, if they are old enough to remember.

The fact that these two un-elected billionaires have such obvious influence over the incoming President is disturbing to say the least. The fact that one of them will have many conflicts of interest in that he's going to be advising a bad businessman to begin with where the government's money needs to be spent when he has contracts with the government and stands to gain personally from that advice should disturb you too.

CSB time...

I don't remember that sales pitch at all, but I was in law school at Baylor and didn't follow politics much, but a 3L neighbor dragged my roommate and me to this city park in Waco where this guy named Bill Clinton was campaigning. I knew nothing about him at the time, but I remember he was sort of goofy and folksy, and I thought it was weird how his wife spoke as much or more than he did. And she was all intense and serious while he stood behind her looking around with a stupid grin on his face. Anyway...

Why would it disturb me? He's the most successful person in the world in many areas and he's passionate about liberty and free speech. He cut 80% of Twitter's bloated, lazy workforce and the company functioned better after he did it. Why wouldn't I want that for my country? At least with a corporation they're wasting voluntary shareholder dollars and not my tax money.

You really think we'd be better off with a bunch of entitled and out of touch career government elitists continuing to run things into the ground?

And BTW, it's not "the government's money." It's our money. The government doesn't make or have money, it takes and mostly wastes ours.

Point taken... but my point remains... you don't have a problem with a guy who stands to collect possibly billions of dollars of our money whispering into Trump's ear where he should try to direct it? You don't think Musk is any less out of touch than the government elites?

He appointed two people to executive positions. They are "unelected" in the same sense that all executive appointments and cabinet positions are "unelected".

Which is to say, the President is ELECTED by the populace with the full knowledge that he will appoint individuals in the executive branch to carry out his intended policies. Most people who voted for Trump knew full well that he intended to create a department to combat government waste and voted for it specifically.

It's very weird and absurdly partisan that anyone would have a problem with this inherently.

These guys all go whisper in the government's ears. The Dems are the ones who love to subsidize the green energy and all their other pet projects. Trump is the one who wants to end the war on oil and gas. So no, I'm not worried that everyone will be forced to buy a Tesla now.

And yes, Musk is absolutely more in touch with what the people want than the pinhead elites who advocate Modern Monetary Theory and other garbage they learned at Columbia or Princeton. Give me influence from him over a Bill Gates or George Soros any day.

Not saying that's ok but I prefer it out in the open than a snake in the grass. Every politician has people talking in their ear. At least Elon has a position and is out in the light. If he does something shady to benefit himself it's right there for everyone to see.

Way better than Obama or Pfizer or a foreign government advising Biden behind the scenes through his son. Generally if you're doing shady shit you don't do it out in the open. So I actually appreciate the transparency. Something I think Elon has always been, which is pretty transparent. Hell that was his whole thing when he took over twitter, shine light on the shady shit.

As far as being "out of touch" I mean he is rich, so sure he doesn't feel the same pressure as a person living paycheck to paycheck suddenly being put on furlough. I also don't think Elon is your normal billionare like Bezos or even Trump. But I'd very much welcome the government being ran more like a business than an entity with endless money spending it like it's free.
