From the looks of things, Goof Son shot off his mouth too soon. They apparently want Elliott in at Bell money. Not Gurley money.about 4-6 months ago big-mouthed bass Stephen Jones basically said that Elliott would get a deal larger than Gurley's. In my mind, if the Cowboys are offering 15 AAV and a proportionate amount of guaranteed money, the deal should be done. So either Elliott's demands are outrageous (16-18 AAV) or Stephen is going back on his previous comments where he pretty much said Elliott's deal would eclipse Gurley's. I'd truly love to know which is the case.
Yeah that's the problem. As soon as the new deal is signed that all gets forgiven. Which is total horseshit for a guy with 2 years left on his contract. There should at least be some cost to Zeke for doing this. Instead he is going to be the highest paid player at his position.
Unfortunately the Joneses are too chickenshit to enforce.
Not if they stick firm to the Bell money line in the sand.Instead he is going to be the highest paid player at his position.
Utterly stupid how they hand over leverage via the media. He did the same shit with Prescott."He's right there at the top of the best in the business, if not the best," Jones said of Elliott in February. "We certainly saw what Gurley got paid, and we know that's probably where it starts, and we'll go from there."
I don't know how these idiots negotiate in the business world, but they suck at doing it with NFL contracts. What sense does it make to these morons that the market "reset" based on a deal that was done with a guy who literally sat out a season? The market for Elliott is clearly an inflation-adjusted Gurley deal, and yet they want to sit here and count pennies over what is presumably about a 1.5 million AAV difference? Please.
Careful. 1 big will get on your ass too.I love Zeke, but I would listen to any trade offers.
