Manziel does seem like a lost cause and I don't think the Dallas nightlife is going to help him rehabilitate. Don't want RGIII either.I was a big fan of Manziel coming out of the draft, but I would agree with you.
Neither guy is ever gonna be a franchise QB, but RG3 could be a serviceable starter. He simply needs an attitude adjustment.
But Manziel? I think he's a lost cause who is never going to get it. He's one of those guys like Josh Gordon that don't care about jeopardizing their career. They simply refuse to stop doing whatever it is they're doing no matter the consequence.
As Jimmy Johnson says..."I don't care what issues they have so long as I can reason with them"
Well, you can't reason with a guy like Manziel, so it's best to avoid him altogether.
We do need a backup QB, but it if Romo goes down for an extended time again you can hang it up even if the backup wins 40-50% of the games. In a 4-6 week period that may salvage a season but not long term like this year. Obviously 1-9 isn't going to cut it but that was more a reflection of the coaching and game plan. No way we should've only won 10% of the games even with the backup QB's we had.
Looking at the list of FA QB's there's not much out there but I don't see Manziel or RGIII going 5-5 or better had they been here. And we definitely don't need the drama or media circus. Now if I had to choose between the two I'd go with RGIII. But I have a feeling either of them may make us forego a QB in the 1st. If that's not the case then I could live with him as a backup because there isn't much else out there. But I have a feeling it would make JJ and the front office decided to go with the more immediate starter and then maybe waste a 2nd on a QB. So I'd rather just sign someone like Colt McCoy or whatever while drafting the best QB we can get.
