Not only that, but nobody with a shot as ugly as Lonzo's has ever had his own shoe, much less brand. This will fail, much like his son's career, IMO.
I'm not that high on Lonzo Ball either. They talked him up all CBB season as if he were the next Lebron or Magic but whenever I watched him I saw Jason Kidd. Obviously Kidd was a great player but he wasn't a once in a generation kind of talent.

Plus it seemed like Ball tended to disappear too often. I noticed the same thing with Ben McClemore 4 or 5 years ago when people were slobbering over him.

The way Ball got destroyed by D'Aaron Fox is a huge red flag to me. He seemed intimidated and unwilling to answer the challenge of an equally talented player.

Ya, I didn't even see Kidd. I saw Ricky Rubio. Good player, but nobody people will talk about after the initial hype wears down.

And yes, while the game against Fox did confirm my initial thoughts, it also showed me how underrated Fox was. I love the player.

They blew a golden opportunity last night. I don't know what Harden was thinking late in the game. Damn near every possession consisted of him over-dribbling on the perimeter and the Rockets subsequently chucking up 3s at the end of the shot clock. Very little effort was made to actually attack a weakened Spurs defense.

That was a choke job.

As an aside, what the hell has happened to Gasol & Aldridge. They've both been extremely soft this series. They'd get a switch with a Houston guard guarding them and instead of aggressively attacking the rim, they settle for fade away jumpers. If you're 7'0 tall you can't let 6'4" guards push you around and make youo settle for 15+ foot jumpers. That was a bad look.

At least Gasol can blame it on age. Aldridge is out there losing himself money for next deal.

I wonder what Jiggy thinks of Harden now?

:lol

What an absolute choke job of a last two games by him.

This game is one example of why I told Jiggy that I'd take Westbrook over Harden. Westbrook would have at least busted his ass all night and left everything on the court.

Harden was out there looking disinterested and playing timid in a freaking elimination game.

Yah, give me the guy who I know I can count on to play hard when it matters most.

I wonder how much of this is Dantoni. Have any of his teams won a playoff series against a strong opponent?

Exactly.

The local fans on my FB are treating him a new one over that.

I would never want that guy coaching my team.

That brand of basketball will never win. You can't just completely ignore defense as if it doesn't matter.

What did you guys do to Jiggy? He's been mighty quiet lately.

As soon as the Rockets beat OKC he came running in here throwing around Harden's stats.

Now.....silence. :art

I guess I'm the only resident Rockets fan now. You can unleash all the pent up frustrations my way. I'm ok with it. I'm happy they beat OKC as they have had a problem with them in the past but sad it ended the way it did. Not really that much of a fan of the basketball anymore so I will get over it about ..... right now.

I watched a total of 7 minutes of NBA basketball this season and it was game 5 of Spurs/Rockets. It looked like to me Houston just wanted to stay behind the 3 pt line and just shoot from there. That was the only shots I saw them take. I'm guessing that was their offense this year?

Yes, either that or drive into the paint for a layup or dunk.

Superstar MVP James Harden outplayed at home in an elimination game by Jonathan Simmons.

So soft, this flopping bitch would've gotten railroaded if he played 20 years ago.

The other day I ran across the Rockets shot chart from Game 5 it is was pretty much all 3 point attempts and shots at the rim. There may have been 5 or 6 shots from midrange, but that's it.

Taking 50 3-point shots per game isn't an entertaining brand of basketball to me, but unfortunately it looks like the game is headed down that road because the analytics geeks have devalued the midrange shot.

That's funny because it hit on 2 thoughts that crossed my mind last night.

1. I half-joked to myself that he must have been out late the night before the game, like the Mets Matt Harvey did the other day.

2. After last night's game ended I thought to myself that Harden needed to lay low for at least 2 weeks before resuming his normal night life, partying, etc. Because it's a bad look if you're caught partying it up too soon after a performance like that. And partying it up too soon would reinforce the narrative that he didn't care and was only going through the motions during Game 6.

This dude is really a dunce if he was out partying last night.

I've noticed a lot more people in the national media have started to take notice that his effectiveness is limited if the refs aren't give him a free pass to the free throw line.

In particular he tries to make a living off drawing cheap free throws at the 3-point. Most of the time when he's fouled out there he clearly isn't in the act of shooting when the contact is made. The move that he uses is no different than the swing though-rip move that Durant used to use. The league eventually clamped down on KD's move, deeming it a non-shooting foul. They need to do the same with Harden's go to move. Make it a common foul and stop giving him a free pass to the free throw line.
