DeMarco Murray apologizes to Cowboys fans for hurting their feelings

Some Dallas Cowboys fans who were unhappy that DeMarco Murray signed with the rival Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, took to social media, posting pictures and videos of themselves burning their No. 29 Murray jerseys.
The league’s leading rusher met with media members in Philadelphia after inking his five-year, $42 million deal.
Near the end of an 11-minute press conference, Murray was asked if he had seen the images of his Cowboys jersey being lit on fire. Murray chuckled and said he had not.
“I don’t take it personal,” he said. “I’m sure their feelings are hurt. I apologize for that. I’m ready to move on and I’m glad to be a part of this organization.”
Murray said his final decision wasn’t about financial security. His choice came down to winning. Despite receiving “a couple” of better offers, Murray picked the Eagles because he feels they have a “great chance” to win a Super Bowl.
Although he was asked twice, Murray would not say if the Eagles have a better chance than the Cowboys.
“Obviously, Dallas, they have a special place in my heart,” Murray said. “I had an incredible four years there, growing as a person, a man, a father, a husband and a football player, so I can’t thank [Jerry Jones and his family] enough for taking a chance on me coming out of Oklahoma.
“Coach Garrett, an unbelievable guy, unbelievable person. The things he’s taught me over the last four years, I hope to continue to carry on and continue to try to be great.”
While talking about the friendships he’s built while playing for the Cowboys, Murray specifically mentioned Tony Romo, Jason Witten and Dez Bryant. And because he’s close with several of his former teammates, Murray said he’s sure that emotions will be high when the Eagles play the Cowboys later this year.
“I understand the business side of it,” Murray said. “There are no hard feelings. Those are great people in that organization. I’m very, very blessed to have spent four years there, learning a lot from those guys.
“Some things just don’t work out. You just got to move on.”
