So we gotta draft a top rookie qb in the next 2 years right? hopefully jerry is thinking in those terms otherwise this trade was even more useless than it appears.

Same. But I won’t take solace from basketball.

This seems quite goofy and we do not have the horsepower to compete unless everything breaks right.
Compete for what?

A wild card?

I think we still could, I don't think this trade moves things dramatically. Before it I think we were in the 8-12 win range, assuming general health, now I'd say 7-10, maybe 11 if everything goes right as you say.

Our edge rush is weaker but Clark is an improvement one way or the other at DT. Before the move we were banking on two sub-300 lb. DT's, a rookie in Toia, whatever the hell Mazi is, and another sub. 300 lb. guy in Winfrey.

Our edge rush obviously takes a big hit but it's still probably an average or so group, but now we should actually have a competent group of DT's.

Yeah, if one of those ones is enough to move up to the top 5 or so and get a new QB, I'll consider this a success.

You are joking, right?

Unless Prescott suffers a catastrophic injury, we are not drafting a QB in a premium round for at least the next three years.

Got to.

Let's hope the Manning boy decides to pull an Eli, because we definitely have more ammo for something like that than anybody else.

Assuming he's actually good of course.
Good point but two picks in the late twenties could at best get up into the teens.

The newest spawn will go numero uno unless something weird happens.

What would have been fair compensation from the Packers? Two 1's, a 2 and a 3?

If he comes out this year we'll have 4 1's to move up, although I don't think it's even take that to go from about 18 to 1.

this only hurts the cowboys chances of the Mannings advising Archie to come out early. Why would anybody come to Dallas?

If you're the Manning family, wouldn't the Cowboys be one of those teams you'd "pull an Eli" to avoid?

Circus atmosphere.

Meddlesome, irrational ownership.

At best football is the second priority.

Star players get jerked around during contract negotiations.

Seems like the Cowboys are exactly the type of organization the Manning family would flex whatever influence they have to avoid.

I would wait and see how the kid works the Texas program first. He could be more like Archie than either of the other two.

Maybe but I think the brand still has too much allure, plus we have a good amount of young talent at WR and OL if we keep Pickens.
