I don't know about that, the dude has kind of been a warrior at this point. Even with the foot thing he played the entire season.
I still dont think Stephen/Jerry will pay him the 18 mil in two years at the age of 32. I know thats not really a lot but I dont buy this sudden extreme interest in the position and run defense.

Eh, 18 mil in a couple years will be third DT money in the NFL. Just how things work.

Plus these tards gave Martin a big salary bump for a bad year and retirement. You never know what they will do.

They basically just gave Mazi a spot on the 53 to save face after spending a first on him. No chance they get rid of Clark after just two years.

They might not retain him after this current deal but I feel like he's almost a lock to finish the 3 years left on his deal here.

No state income tax in Texas, unlike Wisconsin, but I'm sure the agent took that into account. Probably had more marketing/sponsorship opportunities as a Cowboy, too. Not to mention living in a glamorous city instead of a sleepy little whitebread town up North. Oh well.

Damn... 7.65%? As a Texan, that sounds insane.

To be fair, our (presumably) much higher property taxes eat up some of that. But still.

The funny thing is that Dallas should be a team of choice in FA over many others because of the income tax. But they are not. I wonder why that is? Because most agents are fed up with their cheap sneaky asses.
And because these agents don't care about the net to their player, only about that top number on which their cut is based.

Feh. We don't pursue their clients anyway. Cuz we broke.

We don't sign significant FA's anyway so whatever, it seems the most we'll do is trade for guys they think are undervalued on their current contract or are on rookie deals.

You can't get much worse than rock bottom as far as FA goes.

This is exactly right. The agent doesn't care about the players take home. They care about the contract being the biggest ever for a defensive player or QB or whatever. It brings them more money and also bring them a bigger reputation to get more clients.

I would actually say the total value of the contract improving reputation is probably the top priority to an agent.

Tough times for that young‘un.

I guess I would have bawled my ass off if my mother had to break the news to me that Roger Staubach was traded.

I assume your mom would have laughed at you too.

We forget how these dudes were heroes to us as kids.
