Brown is better than a lot of folks on this site give him credit for and is perfectly fine as a #5 WR.

As he's #4 to start the year and #5 again when Gallup returns, I'm not really worried about it so long as the OL/running game improves.

The MUCH bigger concerns are
  • whether Dak and CeeDee can team up to be a true #1 combination with Cooper off the field
  • if Gallup can return to the lineup as an effective #2
  • whether either Washington or Tolbert will develop into true #2/#3 options to start the year

If they can't, then it doesn't bode well for Schultz either as he benefitted quite a lot from our top three WR's clearing out zones

But that's the problem. He's nothing more than a #5 WR. That has been here 6 years. He's not going to move up. And that spot should be for a developmental type WR that has upside. That offers something dynamic. He does neither. He's had more than enough time to show out. Time to move on and use that roster spot on another guy. His spot on the depth chart is one that should be churned every couple of years trying to find something. We are just treading water with no chance of improvement with this guy at this point.

Exactly, he may be as good as another NFL teams 5th or sixth WR but most of those guys aren't 6th year vets. They are rookies with the expectation they can be more. Or they are just flat out better than Brown.

We don't have any young guys we feel comfortable with stepping into like the 4th WR roles now because we have filled those developmental slots with Noah Brown. And frankly I'm afraid we just flat out missed on Fehoko.

I'd be curious if we cut him if anyone would value him enough to sign him.
