So we're doing a list of failures from 2007 onward?
Awesome.
2007 didn't have many humiliating moments. Just a disappointing one and done playoff exit after a 13-3 season. However, in typical Garrett/Romo fashion, this was the first of many negative marks this team would set for the franchise. They became the first team in NFL history to secure homefield and lose their first game.
2008 is the season where the Cowboys reputation as a choking and embarrassing failure was born:
@Pittsburgh - Cowboys blow a 13 point 4th quarter lead to the Steelers which is capped off by Tony Romo throwing a pick 6 with under 2 min to play
Vs Baltimore - in the TX Stadium's final game and with a chance to secure a playoff spot, the Cowboys lose to the Ravens in humiliating fashion. With a chance to get the ball back and score to take the lead, the Cowboys allow Willis McGahee to go 77 yards for a TD on the first play of the drive for what looked like a game clinching TD. However, the Cowboys scored again and were put in the exact same position. They then proceded to allow fat ass LaRon McClain to go 82 yards on the first play of the drive for a TD. The Cowboys are the only team in NFL history to allow back to back runs of 75 plus in the same game in history. Michael Irvin reportedly loses his shit and goes crazy saying this team was an embarrassment to the franchise and he would be right.
@Philly - with the final wild card spot on the line, the Cowboys lose 44-6.
2009:
This season was actually relatively free of humiliating losses. There were some disappointments, but nothing that was epically bad
2010:
The Cowboys go 1-7 to start the season. I think that was embarrassing enough.
2011:
Now this season was full of gems
First, they blow a 14 point 4th quarter lead to the Jets due to Romo fumbling on the 1 yard line, the special teams allowing a blocked punt for a TD, and Romo throwing a crucial pick at the end of the game to setup the game winning FG.
Cowboys blow a 24 point lead in the 2nd half to the Lions - only time this type of lead has ever been blown in Cowboys history
Jason Garrett ices his own kicker against Arizona to lose the game
Cowboys lead the Giants in a huge game with division lead implications on the line. With only 5 min to play and a 12 point lead in hand, the Cowboys defense allows a quick score, then Romo misses a wide open Miles Austin. After the Giants take a 3 point lead, the offense drives down the field for the game tying FG only to have it blocked by JPP.
Cowboys go to NY in the season finale with the division on the line and proceed to lay an egg as usual.
2012:
Cowboys get blown out by Chicago at home on Monday night in a game they were never really in. Romo throws 5 picks and 2 are returned for TD's.
Jason Garrett again mismanages the clock which leads to a long missed FG to lose to Ravens
Against the Giants, Romo throws 3 1st quarter picks including another pick 6. Cowboys mount a comeback, but of course, lose in epic fashion when Dez Bryant's finger touches down out of bounds.
At Redskins the Cowboys again fail for the 3rd time in 5 seasons to beat a division rival in the season finale for a divison title/playoff spot - Romo throws 3 picks.
