Welp, that fucking sucked. I finally was able to get them to get the board back up. Only took 6 phone calls and about 12 emails before I finally got it through to them that I just needed the site up. Here is what I think the hackers did. If you remember the first two times they did it they were spamming our contact us page. I removed that button from view at the time, but didn't realize there were links to it on the help page at the bottom. I have now completely eliminated the contact us URL, so it will send their bot into an endless loop if they try that route again. With the site back up GoDaddy is now going to have their malware team clean up the site to make sure there is no lingering malware that will affect us in the future. Now, we have two options moving forward:
1. We continue with this setup.
Pros:
- We keep all of our past content
- We stay with something we are familiar with
- We don't all have to create an account with Discord
Cons:
- We lose all of our content with no way of being able to go back and reference any of it
- We have the threat of being hacked again
- We have to build our Paypal fund up to pay for this coming year
2. We go to Discord
Pros:
- We will have Discord's security in place
- We don't have to ask for donations
Cons:
- We lose all of our past content
- We have to get used to a new layout and admin management
- We all have to create accounts with Discord
- We will most likely lose the domain, DallasCowboysCentral.com
Now, I open it for discussion. I will give my two cents once people have chimed in. I really appreciate all of you being patient as I worked to get us back in business.
