Spencer shouldn't be in the equation except for possible emergency depth as a role-player.
I agree with that and will go a step further. It would be better if Dallas would just loose allegedly him. For his draft position he hasn't contributed much.

Like Hatcher he's a Johnny-come-lately. "Wade-ification" in 2007 just sucked the life out of this team because it had real front seven talent. Parcells may have taken them to 14-2 or better and hosting a Championship game.

He wouldn't have let Hatcher nurse his sore hammy's or fill in the blank excuse quietly for years. He'd have accepted nothing less from Spencer than to fight Greg Ellis and DeMarcus Ware for starting spots. Parcells never let players get comfortable until they reached the potential he saw in them. Wade just took it for granted these guys were professionals and should do their jobs.

It's sad because that 2005 draft should have formed the foundations of a perennial contending defense. Now it's completely gone, every last player. Sad.

Technically, Wade got more production out of those guys than Parcells did. Parcells might have been tougher on them but he stuck with Zimmer as a coordinator learning the 3-4 on the job.

Ellis, Ware, and Bradie James got better production but key building block investments like Spears, Hatcher, and Spencer underachieved and Ratliff remained out of position until the bitter end.

We've seen how hollow stats can be, especially when a few stars produce all the numbers and the rest of the team sucks. Dallas led the league in sacks in 2008, but teams did not fear the Cowboys as an elite defense. Hatcher, and Spencer finally broke through in 2012. Spears was a lazy fuck most of the time he was here, and I can only imagine Parcells constantly riding him would have made him better.

We're talking about two 1st's and a 3rd round pick here. Hatcher and Spencer proved they had the talent, Wade just couldn't get it out of them like a contract year could.

He took a physical with the Giants and left New York without a contract.

Must not have been good news.

Not unless we got a better coordinator. Zimmer always got the least he possibly could out of his front seven until he started running Marvin Lewis' defense.

Melton did the same with the Seahawks.

Does that mean the same?

~Just a question, just applying the same logic to a different player. Not trying to say anything to promote the fact that Cowboys are "doing all the right things"~

Well, one had microfracture on chronically bad knees, the other an ACL that players come back from all the time.

One has had two one day trips, thanks we will call you trips, the other has had two trips with longer stays including a call from the coach at one asking he not board the plane.

You tell me.
