I believe that was in my post but carry on.Only it wasn't.

I couldn't be happier with Smith's deal, but no matter how friendly a contract Lee's might be it can't make up for millions spent on a player who isn't here.As an aside...the last two big deals we signed...Lee and Smith...have both been excellent deals for the club. We don't seem to just be throwing money at people like we have in the past.
He was tired of the circus in Oakland.
We are definitely a circus and a spectacle, and quite a few players have said that football isn't always first here, but compared to Oakland, we're a smart organization.I am sure the calm and lack of spectacle in Dallas is reassuring to him.
It's not the money but the position I'm concerned about. If he's signed long term at all, then he's the starter. If Jerry is committed to a young starting player he'll hesitate to draft his competition.I just don't think a bunch of people will come running to throw money at him, for many of the reasons pointed out. He'll look for money, but I think we can protect ourselves in a deal.
We'll have to see, but I tend to think with all the injuries we've had at LB he would see the value of having quality depth there. There was a time where I think Jerry would have settle for Leary and Bernadeau as starting OGs, but we drafted competition to an OL that had draft resources poured in of late. I think there are some philosophical changes going on in the front office...although I understand the concern. It's not the money but the position I'm concerned about. Then the season starts, and two of Carter/Lee/McClain are injured and here we go again.
This is exactly how I feel. I'm cautiously hopeful. We'll have to see, but I tend to think with all the injuries we've had at LB he would see the value of having quality depth there. Money isn't his issue.I'd love to have McClain around long term but can you trust the dude? I'd be afraid he'd freak out with a bunch of cash. If he keeps improving do we think about franchising him?
Interesting. Tyron Smith had similar problems.Money isn't his issue.
I read a big article on him and he was smart with his original contract. Saved a bunch and hired a financial guy.
His problem with money and one of the things that led to him going batshit was all the family and friend sycophants running to him with their hand's out.
This is correct. The contract isn't going to be the issue that pushes him over the edge. Let's face it, McClain has the potential to be one of the best if not the best middle LBer in the NFL. Worth a little risk in my opinion.Money isn't his issue.

They will need him.BTW, it looks like he might actually play this weekend.
