See, I think this totally false.

Who in their right mind thinks that Garrett would not be extended if he got the Cowboys to their first NFCC since January of 1996?

You think Jerry isn't going to consider that good enough? A man who has employed the likes of Barry Switzer, Chan Gailey, Dave Campo, Wade Phillips, and allowed Jason Garrett to be the coach for almost 10 years despite never putting together consecutive winnings seasons?

That guy is going to thumb his nose at his golden boy getting him to an NFCC?

There isn't a chance in hell that he wouldn't rush to put a new contract on the table if he got that far. Hell, I think if he gets just one singular win in the playoffs it would greatly increase the chances that he extends him.

Again, I think you are underestimating just how badly Jerry does not want to let this guy go.
I agree, Aikman said on his show this week that jeri is looking for any excuse to keep him

so it might be best if the cowboys win it all this year since we know jeri will fire a super bowl winner

The Cowboys need to lose out so the Eagles can win the division.
If we are going this route I root for Cowboys to lose out and the Redskins to win out. redskins could win the division if they win out. Not going to happen but mathematically possible until the Cowboys win another game.

I think Jerry is hoping for anything that he can latch onto and use as a reason to bring him back. As crazy as it may sound to some, I can even see the old bastard biting the bullet and bringing him back even after a 1 and done playoff appearance from an 8-8 team.
Hard to believe that 8-8 guarantees the Cowboys the playoffs and 7-9 could do it depending on the Eagles but the Eagles have to win at least 3 games to get ahead of us.

Edit- Didn't realize that the Eagles have all NFCE teams as their last 4 games. Most years that would suck, this year is gravy.

If you're going to fire Garrett at 6-10 you're going to fire Garrett at 8-8. I get some people just want to see the Cowboys burn at this point but I think the logic is flawed. I don't buy that Garretts job is safe with anything short of a deep playoff run.
I don’t know man, Jerry has come out of the angry man in the mirror cloud and is basically speaking in tongues about Garrett’s future again. In spite of what some guys claim Jerry is saying, the fact is he’s still not come right out and said Garrett is gone. A couple victories and I’d have no doubt Jones goes back to sunshine pumping bullshit and thinking Garrett has turned the corner.
But...Chicago pulls off a win and I believe it just might take any glimmer of hope left right out the Jones clan.

Give me the dumpster fire finish. Ensure that piece of shit is gone, and get a better draft spot. Win/win.

I really want to watch it burn. All of it, but most importantly Garrett's seat.

How so? I believe we'd be tied. Their only division loss currently is to us. If they win out they'd be 5-1 in division and we'd be 5-1 also.

Unless I'm mistaken somewhere.

We're 4-0 and they're 1-1 right now. Maybe you're right.

I have zero interest in seeing the cowboys "burn". If I had my choice, I'd rather see them win. I won't enjoy watching them lose. But I know that for us to have any chance at winning in the future, Garrett can not be a part of it. So I will endure losing now if it insures he is gone.

Exactly.

No room for any excuses or bullshit.

Time to be done with this era already.

If that will ensure getting rid of both the Jones family (by selling) and Garrett then I'm enjoying the bonfire. Otherwise let's lose out and get rid of the one thing we can actually hope to get rid of.

I wonder how many more coaches do we have to go through before the family sells? Is this franchise been run to the ground and just a dead franchise as far as the playoffs go?

I don't think they are ever going to sell the team. It is truly a family business with multiple generations now taking part.

I see them viewing the Cowboys the way your average American family would proudly view their family business that has spanned multiple decades and generations.

This is like a family heirloom now and I don't think they are ever going to want to give this thing up to anyone outside of that family......at least not while all of the current brothers and sisters are still around.

The only hope is 20/30/40 years down the line it falls to some younger generation member who doesn't really care for it, but by then?

We'll be dead or close to it.

I don't have any interest in watching them burn, either, but at this point in time, we have no other choice.

With grand kids playing football I can't see it going to sale in my lifetime.

Nope, so our best hope is to lose out and insure Garrett is gone. At least there would be some hope again at that point.

I hope we win out and Garrett is fired. We aren't talking about what we think will happen afterall.
