The real danger for Jerry is if he cuts Garrett loose and no other NFL team hires him -- as anything. That really makes him into the incompetent, bumbling, drunken fossil he really is.
You mean, kinda like Barry Switzer?

“In my opinion, Jason Garrett will be coaching in the NFL next year.”

That statement is Jerry's way of deflecting any criticism of his hanging on to Garrett way too long. Even if Garrett winds up as assistant somewhere, Jerry's prophecy comes true. He'll use it as way to validate his acumen and judgement as a GM. See? Jason got hired right away by another team. It wasn't just me, other teams feel the same way.

jeris so desperate to prop up his guy & way of doing things, it makes me wonder if the two interviews Garrett had with Baltimore and Atlanta weren't a sham done in cahoots with jeri to make people think Garrett is a "hot" candidate

Jason Garrett has ZERO wiggle room based on Jerry Jones words. Super Bowl or else.

The quest is to Fire GM Jerry. If you're satisfied with table scraps, you'll never taste the main course.
I'm trying to remain realistic.

Hear me out...assuming Cowboys don’t reach NFCC this year, it might be better if Jerruh keeps Garrett for at least another year.

Fire Garrett this offseason and the populace’s scorn has been quelled with attention diverted to the new coach. Jerruh is comfortable again.

However, hang onto Garrett into 2020 and, assuming same ole shit, that scorn is going to fester and Jerruh will absorb more of the blame, possibly unforgivably, finally convincing enough fans to tune out the Cowboys with their money and attention...maybe, just maybe, we could get a GM instead of another bullshit rinse-and-repeat coach.
You've been banging your pots again, haven't you Ruprecht?

I think that last line is telling. "I believe that Jason Garrett will be coaching in the NFL next year." Not Jason Garrett will be coaching for the Cowboys next year. It's as close as he has ever come to saying there will be a change.
The thing that pisses me off is that Jerry is basically saying there's no guarantee a new coach will win a super bowl.

Of course there's no guarantee but that's not the point you dumb fucking muppet.

The point is we've seen more than enough of Garrett to know HE isn't the answer.

And yes, please list all the coaches who have coached 10 years with the same team without winning the super bowl.

I'll give you a hint...

Of the 31 head coaches to win at least one Super Bowl, 27 of them won their first championship within the first five seasons with that team. Only Chuck Noll (six years in Pittsburgh), John Madden (eight years in Oakland), Tom Landry (12 years in Dallas) and Bill Cowher (14 years in Pittsburgh) needed more than five years to capture that elusive first ring.

With a 10-year sample size of Garrett’s work, it’s hard to believe his level of performance will improve, not only with the Cowboys, but someplace else.
I keep flip-flopping on whether Garrett will even get a shot somewhere else. My initial thoughts are NFL front offices are so lazy that they'll be intrigued by name familiarity and Garrett's .500+ win percentage so they'll give him another chance.

On the other had I think that name familiarity and 10-year sample size also works against Garrett. Garrett's been trashed in the national media for being nothing more than an underachieving, talent wasting, sideline clapping buffoon for a few years now. That's how he's widely viewed by NFL fans. Selling your fan base on a guy like that would be a hard sell.

The Cowboys need to lose out so the Eagles can win the division.

The general outlook on Garrett's future status is much more certain on his departure than I am.

I think Jerry is hoping for anything that he can latch onto and use as a reason to bring him back. As crazy as it may sound to some, I can even see the old bastard biting the bullet and bringing him back even after a 1 and done playoff appearance from an 8-8 team.

The point is, I don't want there to be any room whatsoever for this buffoon to even consider handing Garrett a new contract and the only result that I believe guarantees us of that? Losing out and missing the playoffs altogether.

This shit needs to end already.
