TitleTown USA" has yet another championship to add to its resume as Forbes magazine has declared that the Green Bay Packers have the "Best Fans in the NFL."

How rabid are Packers fans? Dare you ask?

According to research by Nielsen Scarborough, only 16 percent of adults living in Green Bay, Wisconsin, are NOT fans of the team. That means everybody else in the metro area has either watched, attended and/or listened to the Packers' games in the past year.

Fan bases of the Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens round out the magazine's list of the top five.

The Forbes rankings were based on the hometown crowd reach, social media reach based on the area's population and three years' worth of Nielsen television ratings, stadium capacity percentage and merchandise sales via NFLShop.com.

Green Bay is the NFL's smallest market with a metro population of 306,241, which is easily surpassed by the Packers' backers on both Facebook (4.4 million) and Twitter (701,000).

And, of course, it doesn't hurt that the Packers are the only game in town and have an NFL-record 13 championships to their credit.

The study said Packers fans scored the highest marks in every category except for TV rankings (second) and merchandise (seventh).

Six other teams in the study -- the Dallas Cowboys (tied seventh overall), Broncos, Indianapolis Colts (sixth), Patriots, Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers (tied, seventh) -- also had social media numbers that were larger than their local fan base populations.

Chicago bar bans Cowboys fan group due to expletive-laden Tony Romo rants

By Ben Rohrbach23 hours agoShutdown Corner

The past two decades have been tough on the Cowboys — the last three years perhaps the toughest, each ending in defeat with a playoff berth on the line — and that suffering has led to the plight of their Midwest fans.

It's not easy being a Cowboys fan, especially in Bears territory, so transplanted Dallasites in Chicago have gathered in a Lincoln Square bar for the past three NFL seasons. Call it group therapy. But the family-friendly Brownstone Tavern banned Dallas Cowboys Fans in Chicago from gathering this season due in part to a rowdy patron uttering in the presence of children, "(Expletive) you, Romo," according to DNAinfo Chicago.

Brownstone owners delivered the news via email to DCFC organizer Marc Hochmuth, and a since deleted post on the group's Facebook page reportedly detailed the profane specifics. While members of the organization are still welcome to visit the bar, the audio from Cowboys games will not be broadcast, essentially encouraging diehard Dallas fans to watch another .500 season elsewhere.

As a result, the estimated 50-150 Cowboys supporters who showed up each Sunday will move their operation a mile up the road to Commonwealth Tavern. While the group appears to be content with its new home, Hochmuth still holds a grudge against Brownstone, telling DNAinfo Chicago, "We're going to trash them every chance we get now," and, "We don't want them to make another nickel."

And you wonder why this seemingly symbiotic relationship went awry.

Hochmuth also claims Dallas fans weren't the only ones cursing their quarterback. "It also happened with Bears fans saying, '(Expletive) you, Cutler,'" he added. "I heard more than enough expletives from Bears fans." At least Cowboys and Bears fans in Chicago can agree on something.
